Here’s a story for you. We started filming without owning the title and had to do alternates.
Taft Broadcasting owned the title Ghostbusters as part of their half-hour sitcom starring Larry Storch and Forrest Tucker (F-Troop) and a gorilla chasing ghosts. I had never heard of it. They didn’t have proton packs or Bill Murray. Columbia paid $500,000 to buy the name, but they really should have paid Dean Martin, from whom I first heard the term.
In the film Scared Stiff (1953), he and Jerry Lewis (check out his acrobatic stair descent) are in an old haunted castle, and Lizabeth Scott asks Dean: “Who are you guys?” And Dean answers: “You’ve heard of Trustbusters and Gangbusters, we’re Ghostbusters!”
For my research writing the first movie, I watched every single ‘ghost’ comedy ever made. Bowery Boys, Hope and Crosby, Abbot and Costello, Martin and Lewis all did such films.
Happy Halloween 2026.
How do you not love Jameis?

Alejandro G. Iñárritu (along with Alfonso Cuarón, Guillermo del Toro, and that entire generation of Mexican cinema greats) is a total leftist. But he made a film that transcended the left/right paradigm and delivered truth, beauty, plus an unhealthy dose of terror about media and the true purpose of political satire.
Digger certainly isn't a conservative film, but it isn't a leftist film either. It uses climate change as a plot device but that's not what this film is about.
This movie transcends that tired old left/right dichotomy to deliver something shockingly profound and more dreadful than anything I've seen in a very long time (if ever).
As far as the technical aspects, it was flawless. Great acting, cinematography, production design, costume design, sound design--it was all incredible.
But what I appreciated most was the transformative communal experience, because this is what cinema should be.
We walked in as ourselves and walked out as new people, transformed by the power of film.
We left elated but with a sense of dread about the world outside of the theater.
This is how culture (and society) changes. This is how it's done. And it's an absolute triumph.
Check it out while it’s still in theaters.
