Great article. Didn't know the Canadian wildfires and train derailment accident in February were related to plastic? It's worth reading this op-ed in @Newsweek by @enckj .
1/New op-ed by our pres, @enckj in @Newsweek today. "Plastic has been creeping into our food, our air, our water, and our bodies for decades now, with most people blissfully unaware of its presence and health risks." newsweek.com/plastics-health…

Got any concert, festival or sports game plans soon?
Every year, millions of single-use cups and bottles are discarded at large events. But it doesn't have to be that way. Instead, imagine a future where major venues swap to reusables.

Plastic bottles are problematic! ⚠️ They contain polyethylene terephthalate, leach chemicals into the water they hold, & are known endocrine disruptors. Instead of being recycled, most are sent to landfills, shipped overseas, dumped, & burned. 🚨 We must #BreakFreeFromPlastic.

Ithaca College students (NY) created this petition to ask the school to reconsider the installation of artificial turf. Artificial turf sheds microplastics & poisonous forever chemicals into the environment. Check it out and sign if you like. #twithaca

It's tricky to avoid plastic with take out food, but it can be done. I explained that I didn't want to create any more garbage than necessary & especially plastic & the kind restaurateur made it happen. 🙂🙏

#USA We're combating folks that want to disenfranchise minorities & large groups of people so their vote won't count, a woman's right to choose & folks that would rather seek financial profit than save a planet facing environmental collapse.

Plastic production is by far the largest industrial oil, gas, and electricity user in the EU. As Europe faces an energy crisis this winter, multiple companies have already announced they will suspend production because of high energy costs. Plastic production should be next.
