We asked Xavier Becerra if he identifies as a NIMBY or a YIMBY and I am still dying over his answer. Great interview by @SophiaBollag, who tried to get him to say literally anything substantive.

A coastal flood warning went into effect this morning for the entire coast of San Diego County and will remain in effect until Thursday afternoon, with "significant flooding" expected from unusually high tides, forecasters said. nbcsandiego.com/news/local/s…
Remember whatever the city does, the Navy doesn’t have to care. It could build a data center and a coal power plant there to power it if it wanted.
San Diego is putting clear rules in place before we allow data centers in our city.
Today, I signed an executive order to put a moratorium on data centers in SD while the City develops regulations that make sense for our neighborhoods, infrastructure, and future. #ForAllofUs
This could be a snag in the Midway Rising deal heading to Council today: The biggest selling point is 2,000 units of affordable housing but many of them could be required from projects miles away from the site. Other developers would pay Midway Rising. They won’t be “net-new.”

Am I nuts? How can an imminent lockout jeopardizing the upcoming season not be mentioned in a discussion about the offseason and ownership?
The offseason is owners season. It’s their time to take action.
The Padres’ new owners pledge they will do so in a letter to season ticket holders.

Sunny day coastal flooding is unsettling.
Newport Beach is enduring surging swells into its city streets Friday due to Tropical Storm Rachel and an ongoing Kelvin wave raising sea levels. trib.al/F1fcxXp
Sea level rise won’t come suddenly and just stay. It’d be an increasing frequency and severity of high-tide flooding.
With rain and high tides expected through Tuesday, Oct. 13, City crews are taking steps to prepare. Localized flooding is anticipated in low-lying areas around Midway, Mission Beach and other coastal neighborhoods: insidesandiego.org/city-prep…
I’m no game theory savant but these catchers need a lesson in expected value. These are the best in the world and there are challenges in low-leverage situations in the first and second inning? Just one quick lesson ffs.
The point is to make the decision more on the situation you’re in and less on whether you think it’s a strike. You can know the situation before the pitch. You don’t have to decide in the moment after the pitch.
This but for candidates for political office.
