3x, 3x, 2x, 2x is dead. The new bar for founders is 10x, 10x, 5x. That was just one of the debates at last night’s “Fundraising in the AI Era” panel. Big thanks to Mike Kim (Mycroft), Lauren Epstein (Storytime Capital), Madge Rumman (Blair Health), @avarma (@withmantle), @Fasken and @CIBCInnovation 🚀

Gemini 4 Argon is new on the board and comes in sixth, 1.2 points behind the leader @claudeai Opus 5.5. It is a clear step up from @geminiapp 3.1 Pro Preview, which scored 92.2% but not enough for a podium finish.

How we welcome our new teammates south of the border: mail them Canada in a box. Maple syrup? Check. Mildred's Temple pancake mix (the real MVP)? Check. A gentle, unspoken expectation that they'll say "sorry" more? Also check.

Mantle made the 2026 Canada Small Business 100, presented by @Mastercard 🇨🇦 Proof you can build globally competitive fintech from Toronto without leaving for the Valley. Cheers to our team and this city's founder community 🎉

Your cap table is the one document every investor will read, and most founders set it up before they know what they're doing. The good news? It's a lot easier to get right early. That's what our co-founder, Amit, is digging into with Movement51's Founder Lab cohort in "Structuring for Scale: Cap Tables & Future-proofing Your Business." Amit will cover: → How early equity decisions compound over time → What investors look for when they open your cap table → How to keep your cap table clean as you grow (without it becoming a second job) with Mantle Clerk Thanks again to Emily and the rest of the M51 team for having us back. Always a highlight to spend time with this group.

Claude Opus 5.5 dropped so we ran it through AWE-bench, and it doesn't disappoint.

3 things Clerk (Mantle's AI Agent for cap tables) can do for you this week: 1. Keeps stakeholder records clean Create, update, and merge records with one ask. Clerk flags likely duplicates and suggests links, so your cap table stays clean. Migrating from Carta or Pulley? Same deal. No more hunting down three versions of the same investor. 2. Keeps board actions moving Clerk knows what's already in motion. Ask it to update an existing draft or spin up a new one, and it picks up right where you left off. 3. Handles RSAs It manages restricted stock awards right alongside the rest of your equity. Have a task? Just ask Clerk: withmantle.com/equity/ai-for…

Wealth tech has grown large enough that "trust us, the AI is accurate" shouldn't be the bar anymore. The space deserves proper, public research on raw model capabilities.
For LPs, fund managers, and the teams building wealth tech: AI is doing more of the document work in private markets. But how do you know it's getting the numbers right? Today, we're launching AWE-Bench (Assets & Wealth Extraction Benchmark): an open benchmark that tests how well AI models extract data from financial documents, like the reports and notices investors use to track money moving in and out of funds. What makes it useful: → Every document has an exact answer key, so results are checkable → Break down errors by field type, document family, and layout → See cost per document and processing time next to accuracy Dwayne Forde (@dwayneforde), Mantle co-founder & CTO, walks through how it works 👇 blog.withmantle.com/introduc…

Stijn (@stijnbe) moved 11 years of @outsiteco's cap table history onto Mantle in a single day. Outsite runs a global network of coliving spaces and boutique hotels for people who live and work from anywhere. For most of its history, the cap table lived in a spreadsheet held by outside counsel. Here's what changed with Mantle from day one: → Same-day migration → Unlimited stakeholders → Ability for employees to see their own holdings → Scenario modelling during fundraising → Legal counsel access

@stijnbe's advice for founders setting up equity for the first time? 1. Use a tool, not a spreadsheet, from the start. 2. Put everyone on the same source of truth. Your lawyer included. 3. Model ownership before you formalize it. 4. Stay investor-ready at all times. "The moment you start a company with a few founders, you already have a cap table. Use a tool from day one."
