🚨BLOORE’S BUTT: Over the summer, Redditch’s Labour MP was contacted by residents who couldn’t get water to the graves of loved ones at Redditch Crematorium. 🧵

Underground pipes under the cemetery grounds had broken down. For people with mobility issues, that made tending a grave a real burden.
@ChrisBloore took it up with Redditch Borough Council, which runs the crematorium.
🚨HARD DRIVE: Here’s the latest episode of the taxpayer getting screwed for a public official’s mistake. Yesterday was all about the County Council screwing up a payment to a disabled person. Today it's a bill for a bridge🧵

West Mercia’s line? “Dealt with by our insurers.” End of.
Even if the insurers pick up the cheque, guess who pays the premiums? Us. Same taxpayer just via a different door.
Will the left-wing coalition running Worcestershire County Council be able to weather this, or will Labour bring a motion forward to test its cohesion?
🚨NEW: The Labour leader of Worcester City Council has called on Green councillors to publicly denounce a motion that declared Zionism a form of racism.
The two parties ran the council on a joint-leadership ticket between 2023-24👇bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cq9v…
Deputy leader Adam Kent, steering the closure, said the council has "no legal duty" to provide it, and: "I wish I could say it will be the last but it won't."
Saving: about £170k a year.
