Congratulations to @oliviachow, who was re-elected as Mayor of Toronto tonight! ACTRA Toronto looks forward to continuing to work with Mayor Chow to strengthen Toronto's standing as a world-class film and TV production hub, and ensure artists and the creative community can live and thrive here successfully.

Early this morning, we learned of the tragic passing of Eric Bauza. On behalf of ACTRA Toronto – of which Eric was a member for almost 25 years – we would like to share our deepest condolences to Eric's family and friends. While fans will remember and dearly miss Eric's dazzling talent, his memory will live on in the countless performances he gave to this world. The voice community in Toronto, Los Angeles and abroad are all mourning the loss of a friend, described by many as kind and generous. We at ACTRA Toronto knew this well. In spring 2024, Eric brought his story of animation glory to our Voice Committee, a memory that will be cherished. He was and will remain a mentor to those who carry his legacy forward. May he rest in peace. ~ACTRA Toronto President Kate Ziegler

Our work, our rights, our future. Right now, performers have no AI protections in commercial contracts. ACTRA Toronto Members are changing that, together. The ACTRA Toronto AI Committee is sharing a simple yet powerful rider you can negotiate into your commercial contracts. It's built on the three C's: consent, control and compensation. It also goes further, to prevent your likeness and voice from being used to train generative AI models. Let's ride together. 🏍️ Download the Commercial AI Rider now: actratoronto.com/artificial-… #LetsRide #ACTRAToronto #AIRider #UnionMadeFuture #ProtectOurCraft #UnionStrong

An amazing showcase of ACTRA Toronto performers at #TIFF26 wraps tonight with the world premiere of YAGA! Carson (ACTRA Toronto Member Clark Backo) is a local detective, at once weary and protective of the small coastal town she serves and its inhabitants. After the disappearance of commercial fishery heir and local party boy Henry Park (Hudson Williams), Carson begrudgingly partners up with Rapp (ACTRA Toronto Member Noah Reid), a private investigator hired by the Park family. When their initial lines of questioning lead them to an enigmatic and seductive university professor (ACTRA Toronto Member Carrie-Anne Moss), it becomes clear that it’s going to require all hands on deck to uncover the truth hidden underneath these shrouds of secrecy. YAGA also stars ACTRA Toronto Members Megan Follows, Sheila McCarthy and Olympia Ordanis. We can't wait to see this incredible cast!
