Several global threats fueled by #AI are growing unchecked, and we're acting like it’s just another day! 🌎 ☄️ It feels like the “Don’t Look Up” movie in real-time. 👀 Cyber risk, bio-risks, economic bubble, AI misuse, geo-political tensions and the shocks that come with fast change are building like a tidal wave. Yet none of them is treated as a priority for society. We put our resources and effort into the next model launch and almost none into preventing the problems that could undo the progress.🚨 The fix isn't panic. It's preparation: shared early warning, real investment in resilience, and cooperation on the risks no country can handle alone.🤝 More details in this week's Big Bang Tech Report.

I’m looking forward to taking the stage at @TallinnSummit 2026 on 5–6 November! For us to ensure a prosperous future in the agentic era, we must collaborate on safe and responsible development and deployment of #AI globally. 🌍🤝 See you in Tallinn! 🇪🇪 #TallinnDigitalSummit @evansuw

While it is clear now that the US and China need to cooperate on AI safety, @AGraylin and I made concrete recommendations long ago on this, in January 2025...they hold up pretty well now...a short thread. 🧵 There can be no winners in a US-China AI arms race technologyreview.com/2025/01…

Elon is forecasting stranded partially complete DCs. 🚨 If true… chip demand falls, fire sales on assets happen and the #bubble deflates.
Replying to @Yuchenj_UW
I think we’re going to see a lot of stranded compute in partially complete data centers

This tweet adds even more clarity. I like the guppy analogy. 🐟💡

Pretty much. As of the past few weeks, debt markets have almost entirely shut off access to money for any company that doesn’t have substantial revenue independent of AI data centers. SpaceX closed $40B of debt for GPUs, but we’re investment grade and have Starlink & launch revenue. That means the 200+ neoclouds are going to see guppy-level death and consolidation. Some will make it through, but not many.

I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Affiliate Professor at the University of Washington! 🎓 🐾 Excited to be teaching the "AI and Technology Policy" course with @BBrunjes, jointly offered by the University of Washington College of Engineering and the Evans School of Public Policy & Governance, University of Washington. This graduate course pairs topical seminar work with hands-on, quarter-long team projects. Student groups will work directly on active local, state, and federal #AI policy challenges, preparing the next generation for real-world governance while bringing critical interdisciplinary analysis to public sector host organizations. Classes start in the Winter quarter. If your organization has relevant policy-related projects that you’d like to offer to the student teams or if you’re interested in giving an expert seminar or being a team mentor, please reach out to me directly. 💡 Photo credit: Krystal Graylin @UW @uw_ece #AIPolicy #TechPolicy #UW #PublicPolicy #AIGovernance – at Seattle, WA

Nobody tries to deliver a baby in four months by adding a second mother. Some things take the time they take, and intelligence is one of them. Real-world data and experiential judgment can't be brute-forced. We need to raise #AI, not race it.💡 I made the case to @FrazerAnderson on Edge Cases: The Human Side of AI podcast. 🎙️ Full conversation: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas… @Link_Ventures @VRWorldSociety

Is there an AI bubble? That’s not the right question. AI isn't a soap bubble. It's a beer bubble. 🫧 There's foam, but there's real beer underneath. The real question is how much is froth and how much is substance. 🍺 And the faster you pour, the more froth you get. Trillions a year in a race is pouring fast enough to spill over the cup. 🫟 We need to slow the pour so we can realize the actual value from the technology.

Wow!🤯 If it’s really as good as the benchmarks show, the revenue base of the closed frontier models will be decimated. 🚨 The pending IPOs of those two firms could be extended indefinitely.
🚀 DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash-1017 is here! Stronger benchmark performance, faster task completion, and shorter outputs than the previous version—a Pareto improvement in performance and cost. Now live on our website, app, and API. 🛠️ Optimized for @DeepSeekHarness, Tencent CodeBuddy, WorkBuddy, and more. Upgrade to DeepSeek Harness v0.2.1-rc.1 or later for the best experience with the new model. 1/4

We cannot race your way to safer AI and a peaceful world!🌎🚨 After spending a lot of time in DC and Silicon Valley lately, my biggest worry is simple: policymakers can see the race is dangerous, but they still aren't acting. Too much of the agenda is being shaped by the companies building the technology. On the new Big Bang Tech Report 🎙️ episode with co-host Jens de Buhr, we dig into the case from my new essay, “Coexistence Above All”: - AI is a beer bubble. There's real value under the foam, but the faster you pour, the more froth you get. - Labs are training obedient "slave AI" when what we need is "guardian AI," built to protect people. - We don't rush a pregnancy or a childhood, and we shouldn't rush the AI minds we're raising. - Wisdom is knowledge times judgment, and judgment only comes from experience. Judgement takes time to build…so accelerating won’t end well. Let’s Raise AI, don't Race it.💡 What do you think it would take for Washington to put brakes on before a major crisis forces it to?⁉️
