The Birnam Oak, close to the south bank of the River Tay at Birnam in Perthshire. The tree is said to have helped inspire Shakespeare's "Macbeth" after a visit by the playwright in 1589. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/d…
The Birnam Oak. The two images both show the oak without leaves. It has a thick central trunk and spreads to cover a large area. Some of the lower branches are supported on thick pillars of wood. The difference between the two images is that one has the sun behind the photographer so shows the oak in full light, with the river glimpsed beyond it.
