I gave an AI a physics problem 30 times and ran every answer.
Four wrote out a complete, correct-looking setup and never ran the calculation. No error. No output.
Reading code tells you if it's convincing. Running it tells you if it's right.

Walk Score exists. Bike Score exists. Nothing scores whether a trike can get around — trikes fail where bikes don't: no curb climbing, grade kills you, wind is a routing constraint not weather.
Mapped my own routes in Ilhéus into OSM to test it. POC: trikescore.com
Two months ago I posted that Brief Work (briefwork.io) had one paid transaction. Still true, plus a few more since — real briefs, real money, no theater. I'm still the one building it, not running it.

I'm 75 today! I'm still building software, as I have since 1969. AI is much better than punch cards, I have to say.
New prototype: an AI-first decision tool.
Describe a decision in plain English — it builds the expected-value analysis, picks the best option, and recalculates live if you edit a number.

45-sec demo below ⬇️
Built a marketplace for structured project briefs. Working, one paid transaction. I want to keep building the product. Looking for someone to run it.

A friend asked: "Who is buying all these new apartments in Ilhéus? Locals can't afford them."
My guess: Paulistanos. São Paulo has no beaches. Ilhéus is a two-hour flight.
I built a prototype to help them find one.

I added email notifications to an MVP this week. Should've taken an afternoon. Took three days across six AI systems that didn't know each other existed.
I was the only integration point.

Fifteen days after launching my marketplace, I used it to buy a go-to-market plan for my marketplace.
Real money. Real proposal. Loop closed.

Built a marketplace for short-burst expert work. One brief.
One screening question. No cover letter theater.
Clients pay $50 to post — quality filter, not a paywall. Experts apply free.

Most of the people I used to argue with are dead or unreachable. This is not a complaint. It is a logistical problem with a partial solution.

Built a working AI decision tool in one weekend.
Describe any choice in plain language → AI builds a decision tree → expected value analysis → optimal answer highlighted.
Claude + Stripe. Free + $9/mo Pro.

I do this for clients. $500–$5K
I downloaded Obsidian and stared at an empty structure for maybe 5 seconds.
That was the beginning of figuring out how to actually work with AI tools.
New essay: alanhalley.com/writing/easin…
Built a personal wiki this morning using Claude Code + Obsidian. One terminal session. It read my files, found a forgotten tax bill, a security hole, and two people missing from my contacts.
Andrej Karpathy posted the pattern yesterday. I tried it today. It works. @karpathy
Your morning routine: open Gmail. Switch to Calendar. Remember a task. Open another tab. Glance puts all three on one page. Two minutes and you're done. glance.alanhalley.com
Built a Google dashboard concept: Gmail + Calendar + YouTube + Tasks + Drive + News — one page, one login.
Why six tabs when you don't need them?

How many tabs do you open every morning just to catch up?
Built Glance to fix that. Email + calendar + social + YouTube + Substack + news. One page. Your layout. AI filters the noise.

Built a communication triage dashboard concept this morning.
AI scores every notification: Urgent / Respond / FYI / Noise.
Discord + Gmail + GitHub + Linear. Put it on a wall monitor. Glance up. Stop checking.
