Just got back from close to a month travelling in Asia attending Token2049 in Singapore and Level up KL where we got nominated as one of the top 40 finalists for the SEA game awards. The most notable moment from my trip was at the latter conference where i had a 1-1 meeting with someone incredibly experienced in the gaming industry. He's currently an executive advisor at a top 20 gaming company by revenue and was previously CEO and head of publishing at 2 other top 20 gaming companies. All gamers know these companies, they are MASSIVE players. So I sat down with low expectations thinking he was probably getting pitched far higher budget games from more experienced studios, yet before i even pulled out the pitch he straight up said: 'I love the concept, i'm sold on it' A part of me couldn't believe it, another part of me thought 'finally'. He then expanded on how he thought we were spot on with the game concept as well as how we were communicating it, emphasising that to make a hit game you had to do something totally different and unique. Next steps? Polish up our pitching materials and send them over to him so he can help get them in front of the right people. Incredibly excited for whats coming and now that i'm home it's time to lock in. Apes with Fruit Guns. It's that simple.
