An immigration climbdown by @ShabanaMahmood?
Yes, she had to compromise over care workers - that was predictable - but the other settlement changes are a really tough package of reforms. Great to discuss with @HarrietHarman & @RuthDavidsonPC on Electoral Dysfunction:
On this week’s pod with @HarrietHarman and @RuthDavidsonPC it’s not Trump world anymore, what does it mean for Burnham? Plus excellent discussion on immigration with journalist & former advisor @DannyShawNews

SCOOP: I've been leaked a draft of the Joint Statement due to be agreed at a major EU-UK summit on 20 November
The EU's negotiating terms include:
- no foreign criminals will be deported back to EU countries
- more British cash if they want to join the EU's electricity single market
- action on reciprocal export controls and tariffs around key industries (cough cough, probably steel)
Sources tell @SamCoatesSky the UK govt won't agree to all demands - and the EU27 hasn't approved it yet either
But will any of this survive that make-or-break summit in 2 weeks?
An EU-UK joint statement has been leaked. What's in it?

Elon Musk was among the biggest losers of election night.
He doled out around $446 million — the most a non-candidate has ever spent on an election — but his preferred candidates were swamped, losing almost everywhere.

Good to see a real ‘Trump-branded’ watch in the flesh, Only 250 of this batch made. The US President made a cool $4.7 million from these.
Affordability anyone?
Big thanks to panel

ANALYSIS: ‘Expect the worse’, what midterms mean for world. Trump faces 2-year ordeal at the hands of a hostile US Congress. He’ll struggle to force through any kind of domestic agenda & be plagued by investigations & political gridlock

The truly worrying aspect after a night of sensational results in the US mid-term elections, (described by one Republican as a ‘massacre’ for Trump’s Party) is that the world is now on tenterhooks about what the US leader is going to do now. He’s not known for being a good loser

.@JamesTalarico: We didn’t win by alienating our neighbors, or by shaming our neighbors, or by ridiculing our neighbors. We embodied a new kind of politics. A politics rooted in a deep love — for our state, for our country, and for all of our neighbors.
My faith teaches me that love is the strongest force in the universe.
Love is not passive. Love is not neutral. Love is not weak. Love requires that we stand between the bullies and the bullied. Love requires that we look evil in the eye and not blink.
Love can heal what’s broken in America.
