Replying to @NazShahBfd
@NazShahBfd raises an excellent and pertinent point here. The response, not so much.
Replying to @NazShahBfd
@NazShahBfd asking the questions that they don't want to hear. Plain parental conversations with their children will fall under the scope of this Bill and the parents will be criminalised. Saying 'No' or 'I don't agree' with a teenager will inevitably cause 'distress'. An answer such as 'Very difficult to answer in the abstract' is not good enough. This is law. We need precision.

FHM 2025 Milestones
The #HagueDV Forum in Brazil had highs & lows.
A high: Brazil's presentation of a SC decision which will help safeguard mothers & children AND which prohibits return if 'grave risk' is proven.
A low: presenters insisting on contact even with proven abusers.

Today the Chancellor delivered the Autumn Budget which included funding for tackling homelessness and misogyny but no commitments for domestic abuse services.

2024 Milestones: building the evidence base.
Our 1st set of Expert Papers were written for the SA Forum. They included a DV101 summary (Lisa Fischel-Wolovick); DV as a ‘grave risk’ (Adrienne Barnett, Miranda Kaye, Merle Weiner); the impact of DA on children (Stephanie Brandt);

🚨THIS is what @10DowningStreet @DHSCgovuk should be prioritising - a public inquiry to pull the #NHS back from its near total capture by gender ideology.
❌ NOT introducing amateur & unnecessary #ConversionPractices criminal legislation which will only reinforce that capture.
“There urgently needs to be an investigation of why every system that should have protected children, young people, & indeed young adults has failed,” Baroness Hilary Cass told The Sunday Times".
@UKLabour eventually caught up that we were right about Self-ID being incompatible with single-sex provision, the scandal at GIDS etc.
It will possibly catch up soon that we're also right about the harms of the CP Ban Bill & the need to tackle transactivist/Stonewall ideological capture of the NHS, govt & public bodies...
But hell's teeth, it's hard work...

But today isn't just about celebrating 4 years of FHM.
We also celebrate every Hague mother who has spoken out, shared her story, helped another mum; every volunteer, every supporter who has given their time, knowledge, kindness and energy.
Together we will win this fight.

Superb article from Suzanne (as ever). Victim-survivors are repeatedly silenced by the justice system. The only winners are the perpetrators.

The health, safety & well-being of mothers & children cannot be treated as separate.
Recognizing that connection must be central to how we approach violence prevention, child protection, family justice & cross-border child protection. 1/3
Sally Jackson retweeted
Family justice & cross-border child protection systems must:
• fully assess DV & coercive control
• recognize PSA
• meaningfully consider children’s views
• prioritise mother-child safety.
These principles must guide return, custody & contact decisions.

Our Statement calls for systems to distinguish protective flight from wrongful child abduction & to avoid punitive responses toward protective mothers.
Decisions affecting mothers & children must be grounded in evidence, human rights, safety & the best interests of the child.

Cross-border child protection requires careful assessment of domestic violence, coercive control & risk of further harm.
#UNSRVW's report recognizes certain cross-border frameworks, like #HagueConvention, can prioritize prompt return of children, over protecting against DV.
Sally Jackson retweeted
DA & coercive control must be meaningfully assessed before decisions are made about custody, contact, or return.
Protection requires more than recognizing violence in theory. It requires systems capable of identifying and responding to it in practice.
