zcash:native has held up well while European bonds sell off and governments float new taxes on investors and wealth, crypto included. Where each one stands:
>Netherlands: plans the country’s first broad capital gains tax, 36% on sale, from 2028. Crypto would be taxed on unrealized gains each year through 2029, then switch to tax on sale in 2030.
>Italy: Article 17 of the draft budget adds a 26% exit tax on unrealized gains for residents leaving from 2027. It applies at €800k or more of holdings and 6 of the last 10 years of residency.
>France: the finance committee backed an exit tax on crypto above €800k, but the Assembly floor voted down the Socialist version on Oct 30. A similar amendment is still pending however.
California: Prop 40, a one-time 5% tax on billionaires’ net worth, goes to a vote Tuesday. Kalshi has it around 25% to pass, but a September Berkeley poll had yes ahead 45 to 42.

I believe that good coins will not revisit substantial lows any time soon
The hack is pretty much covered. Neutral to bullish if they have to buy back some coins
Dems sweep pretty much priced in. Clearing event probably, positive catalyst even for privacy narrative
War and AI unwind fuds still pretty valid imo but good coins should behave their owns way regardless
Positioning and sentiment in the abyss. Ppl here calling for 63ks etc..
Have some courage for once

Good Alexander explains why a blue wave makes him like Zcash and Monero
"Right now the story is Hyperliquid, Lighter and Binance make all the money from perp trading, and BTC wins the store of value narrative with maybe some privacy coins along there. For ETH and SOL to pump you need stablecoin supply to go up. If it doesn't go up, you've got a Democrat administration and a story about regulatory uncertainty, and that's just bad."
"With Hyperliquid and ICE there's a world where in the next two years crypto gets entrenched in traditional financial systems, so it's much harder to unplug. The flip side is I'm a little worried that in a blue wave Elizabeth Warren is the banking chair. The entire thing is gonna be about World Liberty Financial and Trump family stuff, why did he pardon CZ. It's just a crappy look."
"People are gonna start to get afraid. The Brazil thing, the left wing, Elizabeth Warren, and people are like yo, I need to get my money out of this place. That's why I like Zcash, Monero, Bitcoin, the store of value run. The left wing populists probably won't love this Hyperliquid integration, but they're gonna be super stoked about stealing your money."

If intelligence is truly commoditized, it obviously follows that decision markets will be essential
My biggest concern is that if there is a clean sweep by Democrats of the House, Senate and Presidency in 2028, they will:
1. Make DC and Puerto Rico states to gain a strong majority in the Senate.
2. Open the borders and legalize everyone living in America illegally to cement a permanent majority.
3. Increase the size of the Supreme Court to gain an immediate majority.
This would result in America becoming a permanent one-party state and the end of democracy in any meaningful sense of the word.
All that is needed to ensure this doesn’t happen is 51 Republican senators in 2029. That is why you should vote for Republican senators this election. Other reasons are irrelevant compared to this one.
The recent security incidents involving Bybit, Bitget, and now Binance should serve as a wake-up call for every leader in the crypto industry.
Security should never be an area of commercial competition. It is a shared responsibility to protect our customers and the entire industry.
Over the past decade, major crypto exchanges have made significant progress in protecting private keys. We have seen relatively few incidents involving direct private key compromises in recent years. So far, we have not seen conclusive evidence that Binance’s hot wallet private key was leaked. The greater concern may lie in vulnerabilities in access controls and wallet management systems.
Companies that have never experienced a major security incident should not assume they are inherently safer or immune to attacks.
At OKX, we have built multiple layers of sophisticated security protection and maintained a strong security track record over the past decade. But we also recognize that no system is absolutely secure. We must remain humble, vigilant, and constantly challenge our own security assumptions.
A major security breach at any exchange undermines trust in the entire crypto industry, ultimately hurting every company and every customer.
I believe CEOs across the industry need to come together, just as we did during the Bitcoin fork crisis in 2017, to establish stronger industry-wide security standards and coordinated response mechanisms.
For example, transfers and settlements between verified exchanges could be processed in real time, while large withdrawals to unknown or unverified addresses, as well as transactions granting smart contract permissions, should be subject to additional verification and appropriate security delays.
Crucially, these safeguards should be enforced at the cryptographic signing layer, rather than relying solely on application-level controls. Even if an attacker compromises an exchange’s wallet management system, they should not be able to bypass these fundamental security restrictions.
We should also establish industry-wide mechanisms for real-time security incident notifications, coordinated monitoring of suspicious funds, and rapid responses to potential attacks. Exchanges, stablecoin issuers, and other major industry participants should work together to enable the rapid, lawful temporary freezing of suspected stolen assets when necessary.
We should also work together to accelerate the industry’s transition to quantum-resistant cryptography and strengthen our defenses against emerging AI-powered security threats. These are long-term challenges that no single company can solve alone, and they require coordinated research, shared standards, and collective action across the industry.
Security is everyone’s responsibility. No company can protect the future of crypto alone.
happy 10y to zcash

Incredibly underrated how Tachyon is shipping by EOY.
Zcash is scaling by orders of magnitude.

Security risks (AI-driven hacks, mathematical breakthroughs & quantum computing) have become increasingly concerning in recent weeks both personally & for the broader market.
$ZEC looks like the best way to play this, and the market is already showing us that with clear divergence vs BTC/ETH/SOL/HYPE/TOTAL3ES over the past couple weeks.
Additionally, short-term spot & derivatives positioning looks significantly cleaner vs earlier this month. ETF flows have just flipped positive again after ~3 weeks of outflows, while coin-denominated OI is at its lowest level since August.
Separately, OTC desks are still seeing strong interest from liquid & VC funds, with ZEC reportedly remaining one of the most bought altcoins by funds even at these elevated prices.
I generally view protocol upgrades as weak catalysts in isolation, but the January upgrade feels different. Tachyon addresses the scalability improvements the community has been waiting for, while the quantum component of the upgrade addresses one of the highest mindshare risks to the industry. Together, I think they make for a much stronger catalyst than either would on its own.
I haven’t looked too deeply into the underlying tech or whether the proposed upgrades will actually deliver meaningful quantum resistance, and I don’t care to. When all the tastemakers (Naval, Balaji, a16z, Paradigm, Dragonfly & Multicoin) are pushing the ZEC narrative as a hedge against BTC, the realities of what it’s tech can or can’t actually do aren’t part of the thesis.
The combination of improving positioning, continued institutional demand, relative strength & an increasingly powerful narrative makes for an attractive setup, even in shaky market conditions. I expect my conviction to continue building as we approach January.
I have no strong view on market direction over the coming months, and the quantum tailwind for ZEC is a headwind for BTC, so I’m hedged vs BTC on a vol-adjusted basis, but think a naked long is also justified.
Quantum is the crypto equivalent of cancer and ZEC is the cure. Don’t find yourself Zidelined on the road past $2k

Feels like ZEC could be in the early beginnings of outperforming the market again. Seeing relative strength come back in recent days. Bag bias of course but if/when BTC finds more stability or moves upward again, ZEC probably pounds through 1350 area and looks towards previous highs.
