The existence of "Montecarlo" implies the existence of "Montecarnos" and "Montecar". (This is a Spanish language joke.)

I've been saying this for a while, but the hardest part of learning a foreign language as an English native speaker, is to pronounce Anglicisms IN the foreign language, no matter how much it hurts your soul. Like how Russian "спортсмен" ("sportsmen") is singular, not plural.
In order to properly speak a foreign language you sort of have to do an impression of a native speaker. The reason why most anglos are so bad at languages is because they are too self-conscious to effectively do this

Okay, it's not THE hardest part, but it's one of the most challenging things, in my opinion, unless you have a heavily restrictive phonology, like Japanese does.

not exaggerating when i say it's deeply unsettling witnessing your parents get into adult cocomelon (AI vertical dramas).

34 - Fleetwood Town eliminating Arsenal is the first time a fourth-tier side has knocked out the reigning English champions in a domestic cup since Wrexham beat ... Arsenal 34 years ago in the FA Cup (1992). Shell-shocked.

I'll take this opportunity to mention that Chrissy Teigen, an American celebrity and wife to John Legend, is Thai-Norwegian I believe. These are the kinds of mixed ethnicities you only get as a direct result of the "New World", especially the US.
i wonder if there is a pair of nationalities that havent mixed yet. i dont mean ethnicities since obviously there are uncontacted tribes but i mean specifically countries

Edit: just looked her up, and apparently she's also part-Roma on the Norwegian side. That's kinda nuts.

I saw a campaign to add Pannonian Rusyn to Google Translate from earlier this month, the publication told their (Rusyn-speaking) readers to copy and paste an English message into the Feedback box or whatever. The moment I saw the phrase "...ready for LLM training", I groaned.
I apologise if this tweet comes across as Eurocentric, but the fact that Google Translate keeps adding support for extremely obscure languages (which is great), yet not for Asturleonese or Sardinian, is simply odd at this point

In Pannonian Rusyn, you have the choice between "little lantern", "gosling's flowers/grass", or "milk tooth". Lord knows where those come from. en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%D0%B…

O truvau ün diçiunari françese-munegascu. Magara purò iesse primu ütilisatù scrive tweeti ün munegascu. Nun seressa a prima vota che tweetà ünt'üna lenga, che nun parlu. 😂 cc @LunaCaoimheTwt
Update: I've since learned that "Daghe Munegu" is a common phrase that AS Monaco fans like to use, as their variant of "allez les bleus". Okay, now they should start writing press releases ün munegascu as well.

Will I go down another rabbithole of another extremely well-documented yet barely publicized is-it-is-it-not dialect? We wait and see.

Maybe I'm going a bit mad, because why did I just make the entry for Leeds, the city in England, for 12 languages in Cyrillic?! en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%D0%9…
