If you were here in 2022, you probably participated in Friendsgiving. You saw firsthand what a small nobody team in Web3 could do with a little imagination and a ridiculous amount of dedication. We weren’t just selling NFTs. We were reimagining what they could become. There is so much lore, history, art, and creativity in Ape Reunion. Years of building, experimenting, making mistakes, and doing things nobody had done before. And I still believe there’s something special here. Over the last few months, several people have reached out offering to buy Ape Reunion outright. The answer? Respectfully, Ape Reunion is not for sale. I get it. We built a brand people trusted in an industry full of scams, rug pulls, broken promises, and bullshit. There’s value in that. But somewhere along the way, Web3 lost its soul. Everything became about price. What’s the next catalyst? When’s the next announcement? What is the team doing to pump my bags? And if the floor price isn’t going up, apparently nothing else matters. What a miserable way to measure creativity. We gave away free mints when everyone else was trying to extract every dollar possible. We communicated openly before transparency became an expectation. We built experiences, explored new ideas, pushed the boundaries of NFTs, and created an entire world around our art. We stood our ground when others wouldn’t. And we gave people years of memories. Was everything perfect? Hell no. Did we accomplish everything we wanted? Not even close. Our lives as founders took different turns. Careers, families, responsibilities, and opportunities changed. We’re not actively developing Ape Reunion like we once were. I’m not going to pretend otherwise. But here’s what I find fascinating. People still want to buy it. Why? Because there’s something there. Something that can’t be manufactured with a new roadmap, a few influencers, and a marketing budget. Trust. History. Identity. Soul. I (@TheApeMother) am not interested in handing that over to someone whose grand vision is to run the floor price up and extract whatever they can. NFTs were supposed to be about so much more than that. The beautiful thing about this technology is that the things we created don’t just disappear because development slows down. The art still exists. The metaverse still exists. The history still exists. And so are we. I don’t know what the future holds for Ape Reunion. I’m not promising some massive comeback or dangling a roadmap in front of holders. But I know what we built. I know what it meant to people. And I know there’s still potential. If you look back at the Ape Reunion story, you’ll find something that was increasingly rare in Web3. A little light in a whole lot of darkness. Not everything needs to be flipped. Not everything needs to be pumped. And not everything worth creating needs to make someone rich. Some things are worth more than their floor price. Ape Reunion is one of them.
