I'm EXCITED TO SHARE that my St. Louis ethnography is under contract with @PrincetonUPress! In "Shepherds and Kings" I show how the relationship between diversity projects and donors creates organizational mission drift and why that matters for all of us.
Uhhhh
After Tucker Carlson likened Trump to "daddy" tonight, and said a reelected Trump would need to give the media and Democrats a "spanking," the rally crowd "went wild," @alaynatreene reports. Later, when Trump came on stage, the crowd screamed "Daddy's home" and "Daddy Don"

BALTIMORE: DRUID HILL PARK
POOL NO. 2
Built: 1921
Desegregated: 1955
Drained: 1956
Public pools were common in American cities before the 1950s and most were officially “whites only”. When the Supreme Court declared segregated access to public amenities (such as pools) to be unconstitutional, cities circumvented integration by simply removing the amenities for everybody. In short, rather than integrate public pools, many cities decided to demolish them altogether.
Subsequently, beginning in the 60s, there was an explosion in the popularity of backyard swimming pools in the suburbs which were, of course, mostly whites-only due to restrictive covenants and exclusionary zoning. In the name of racism and avoiding integration, American cities effectively eliminated a public good and privatised it for only those who could afford it.

We lived in Orlando for 14 years and this hurricane is about as terrifying as I can remember - and this meteorologist’s emotion tells the story. What a brutal and exhausting season for those vigilantly waiting and in the path of these monsters.
NBC6's @JohnMoralesTV is the longest tenured TV meteorologist in south Florida. When he gets this serious, this emotional, on the air, viewers pay attention: xitter.cf/ChrisHushNBC/status/18…
