Here's an update as to where im at with this currently.
If you have any questions just shoot me a dm or comment under this post.
Still looking for game devs to try this thing out.
So here's the layout I already have and the layers im working on currently.
What i have.
Right now I have a marketplace where a dev can sell their steam keys on my platform. Set their price and select the amount of keys you want to upload. So This is just a medium. Nothing crazy.
Now, the actual launcher im building out (should be done soon).
You'll be able to upload games natively. People will be able to play from the app (just like steam).
On the gamers end, gamers will be able to buy games with usdc or solana (I'll more than likely integrate other chains eventually, no rush). All games purchased are linked to a key (similar to steam, Xbox, etc) the key is stored via nft (not the picture kind but the actual tech). This nft will be stored in the players wallets so think of it like a game cabinet. Players can launch off of these keys they have. Via the launcher or if a game is browser based they can launch via browser from the website (browser launches are already done). Now, the player owns the game. So on top of this, players will be able to sell their games in the secondary marketplace (floors can be set by devs). After sale they wont have the ability to launch the game anymore. Just like as if they owned a physical copy.
Now on the developer side, I will be vetting developer applications myself until I can't anymore. Devs have to apply to upload and sell their games. They will get full autonomy on how their game is launched, the currency they accept (right now the options are usdc and solana), and there will only be a 5% fee on sales (not 30 like steam). obviously additional content can be added to games, updates, etc just like anywhere else. You will have full control over the secondary marketplace for your game. You'll be able to set the floor price so people can't buy up the game and set a small price on the secondary market. All secondary market sales will give developers royalties on that as well. You will be able to set your % of what royalties you get from resales. Finally if you want to release limited content, you can (skins and such) the nice thing is you can set limited iterations of these things. Again, resale and royalties apply to these items as well.
Additionally, this allows developers to set limited iterations of their actual games. Think a deluxe version. Instead of having infinite amounts, release 10k iterations, it can become a collectors item, increase in value past the games launch price point, etc. Game collection can become a real thing again digitally.
This is built to make sure gamers actually own what they buy and devs have more control over their games and actually get paid without being fucked by big gaming companies.
Really? No one has an opinion on this?
So, if its not glaringly obvious, DropRate is web 3 native. This is the machine that allows games to be transferable, ownable and sellable. In order to avoid ever needing to get your credit card information to purchase games, our system is connected to by a solana wallet (phantom, backpack, solflare, etc.) I believe this is the upmost importance to having top tier security.
However, as always, there is a path to less friction. At a cost. Those who are non-web3 native there is an option B. Sign ups with email, or discord. A wallet that you custody would be created. However, in order to fund this wallet you would need to go through privy (stripe and moonpay) or a coinbase api we are currently just discovering (both). This is frictionless and these are 3rd party processors. They will instantly convert your funds to usdc or solana and load them to your wallet (string of numbers and letters attached to your Droprate account). My question to you, the gamers and developers, would you be willing to pay a 2.5% - 4.5% fee in order to have this frictionless addition? or would you rather run it to where you can just load your wallet from a personal coinbase (or whatever on/off ramp) account? The beauty of these bigger on/off ramp accounts is they do offer debit cards so you would be able to receive your funds via sale or resale (intantly (yes, payouts are instant)) and send them off to them as if it were a bank account. I understand there is an extra step here somewhat but that is the cheapest and most in your own control route.
Self custody is the upmost importance to us. We want to make sure all users are protected and that the funds you receive never touch Droprate.
Please give me your honest opinions on this.
Would a handhold walkthrough for wallet creation be a better stance on this (its extremely simple and a monkey could do this)?

As a developer, would you like the option of renting your digital games out for a fixed amount per day? Maybe for those who want to go past the demo but still are unsure if they want to purchase the game. And possibly do a rent to own function? Please let me know.
Okay, this is actually a really fun solitaire game.
Shout out to @bigbropatchwork for giving me a key for his game solitaire: Kingdom in chains.
Ngl, after handing out so many keys on the site it feels good receiving one. 😭
Boutta check this out.

If you go to the website, I made a couple of small adjustments last night. Suggestions would be much appreciated.
Also the .exe for the desktop app exists. Making adjustments but that'll be live this weekend.
As a big dying light fan I just recently purchased The Beast and I am so in love with it. It makes me so happy.
Ill just go ahead and say this. I've been fairly modest about this. But I've been building a full blown steam, epic and gog competitor. Folks are getting too comfortable with the "norm" in gaming and im about to shake this whole thing up. A year from now I believe this thing is going to make a whole lot of people, who have had a grip on the industry for too long, mad.
Crates can now be purchased in sol and usdc as well as solana:3AyrpVnc8MTDJLVLWGUQbthq4dwAycARygXpm6dSpump. If you hold more than 100k drop and also pay in drop you are able to receive a 10% discount on any crate.
Making some major changes to how this whole thing is going to function. Been putting in time where i can and a lot of thought in to this. Drop holders will still be eligible for raffles. There won't be any change there. There will also be a discount on crates as well (will also be integrating sol and usdc for crate purchases). However, when the marketplace/ store goes live I think i will keep it solely usdc and/or sol payments to simplify things for the game developers. I want as little friction as possible for people coming over to the platform and the way they accept payments. A lot of these folks are not crypto native or they have been scared away from crypto. From day one of me wanting to build out the gaming platform for this i did voice this is a tech project, not a crypto project. Blockchain is just the juice that makes this thing what it is. There will be benefits for Drop holders so holding on to it/ buying it will benefit people. I'm currently re-hashing a lot out on this and hope you guys are still around to see what's going on here. Still building this to give games back to gamers and give game developers the tools and pay that they deserve.
Still searching for game devs who either want an alternative to steam or just want to add their game to another platform as well. I'm open for discussions. I'm still building out some stuff for droprate. However, its time that people can begin launching their games on our platform. Please reach out via dms or reply to this message.
Let's give games back to the gamers.

pc app coming along. Owned games will be able to be launched from this as long as they're compatible to do so. Browser games are already live. Now to find game devs who want to give this a whirl. I believe I'm building something special here. I haven't stopped working on this. Just slowed a little bit since I started work irl.
I fully believe in Droprate and my ambitions for it hasn't changed regardless of token price or any of the other bullshit.
I'm going to keep building out a monster. Thank you to those who have believed in me. It means the world and i hope your belief in this is beneficial for you in the future.
Lets give games back to the gamers and make sure devs are paid for the love they put in to their projects.
So just realized the site is being funky. Working on a fix now. Sorry about that. Been busy with irl stuff the past few days which has primarily kept me away from this. I'm back at it in the evenings now.
