For every child, everywhere. Thank you @RAMESHFERRIS, @BillGates and @DrTedros for championing a polio-free world and for reminding us why we can't stop until the job is done. #EndPolio
My friend @RAMESHFERRIS has been a tireless advocate for every last child to receive a #polio vaccine, so no child would ever be paralysed by the disease.
Thank you, Ramesh and @BillGates, for helping us wipe out polio for good.
First Lady of #Uzbekistan Ziroat Mirziyoyeva has been a true champion for children: for children with cancer, for their education, and for every child’s right to a healthy life.
It is therefore my honour to announce that the First Lady is the recipient of the 2026 WHO Director-General’s Award. #HealthForAll

The Swiss authorities have confirmed that the patient and her spouse arrived safely in Switzerland today. She is receiving care at Geneva University Hospitals @hug_ge, while her spouse is in isolation at University Hospital Zurich @Unispital_USZ.
In our telephone conversation, Federal Councillor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider conveyed Switzerland’s appreciation for the care provided by Nigerian health professionals and the close cooperation between our authorities and @WHO that made the evacuation possible.
I thank the clinical and public-health teams in Nigeria and Switzerland, @NCDCgov, @BAG_OFSP_UFSP, @EDI_DFI and @WHONigeria for their cooperation, and wish the patient continued recovery.
Here in Nigeria, contact monitoring, investigation of alerts and other containment measures continue, with support from @AfricaCDC and @WHOAFRO. We will provide regular updates through @NCDCgov and @Fmohnigeria.

Very good meeting with @MSF_IP's Javid Abdelmoneim on the ongoing #Ebola response in the #DRC and ways to scale up our joint activities faster to support the DRC government's leadership of the response. We share deep grief over the killing of an Ebola health worker last weekend and call for the safety and protection of all health workers, in the DRC and everywhere. Health care must never be a target. We also discussed ongoing negotiations on the Pandemic Agreement's Pathogen Access and Benefit Sharing annex, and @WHO's financial reforms.
This joyful dance marked the discharge of the last two patients from the #Ebola Treatment Centre in Mongbwalu, Ituri province, #DRC. No new positive cases have been recorded at the facility in the past five days, although suspected cases remain under surveillance.
The outbreak is far from over, but every life saved is worth celebrating. My deepest gratitude goes, as always, to the health workers who make these moments possible.

In an #Ebola outbreak, governments can help people who need to isolate or quarantine by providing incentives. This makes everyone safer. We welcome #Nigeria’s commitment.

💙 Today, 20 contacts of Kenya’s first #Ebola case were reunited with their families after completing the mandatory 21-day monitoring period.
“People who complete quarantine have helped protect their families, their communities and the whole country,” said @DrNeemaKimambo.

Yesterday, a nurse was killed and a health worker severely injured after they were attacked while responding to an #Ebola alert in the town of Bafwasende, Tshopo province, #DRC.
Our deepest condolences go to the family, colleagues and friends of the lost nurse. We also wish a swift and full recovery to his injured colleague who remains hospitalized.
Everyone working to protect communities from this deadly disease must be able to work in dignity and safety. Healthcare must always be protected.

At a time when our world seem increasingly divided, effort to #EndPolio reminds us of what is possible when we unite behind a common purpose.
One day soon, we will mark the final #WorldPolioDay. And then we will have something truly worth celebrating: a polio-free world.
Let’s make it happen!
I am grateful for @ENHYPEN's support on our blood donation work.
On World Blood Donor Day in June, I was moved to see so many of their fans, ENGENE, donated blood, some as first-time donors, after being inspired by #ENHYPEN. About a third of those who pledged their support for blood donation on WHO's Drop Your Drop site were ENGENE. Thank you!

#Cholera is an ancient disease we know how to prevent, yet it continues to devastate the poorest countries. Vaccines are vital to preventing and controlling outbreaks.
Earlier this week, I visited EuBiologics in Chuncheon, #Korea, currently the only manufacturer producing oral cholera vaccines at the scale needed for mass vaccination campaigns, supplying around 93% of doses to the global stockpile.
Thanks to international efforts, including EuBiologics’ contribution, global vaccine production more than doubled between 2022 and 2025, from 30 million to 80 million doses annually.
I commend EuBiologics for its commitment to producing life-saving vaccines for people worldwide.
Science gives us hope. Today, in Bunia #DRC, the first participants were vaccinated in a new #Ebola vaccine trial called TUMAINI, which means “hope” in Swahili.
There is currently no approved vaccine against the Bundibugyo virus causing the outbreak. This trial will help us understand whether any of the vaccine candidates designed for Bundibugyo virus work.
In the meantime, the existing Everbo vaccine (licensed for use in preventing other Ebola virus disease) will be tested.
@WHO is supporting this DRC-led effort to find answers and save lives.
