Echo From the Buttes

When @MollyMiller33 learned that the Sun Devils recorded 51 rebounds (question by @AshtonSharinn18), she shouted in joy, telling reporters, "Thank goodness! Rebounding was our thing." Story to come soon for @Echo_Buttes

In the postgame, I asked @averie_lower about how @MollyMiller33 and the coaching staff have helped prepare her for the transition from high school to college throughout the past few months. She said, "Every practice, they're telling me that I'm such a great shooter. Sometimes the best shooter in the gym, but DB [associate head coach Daniel Barber] sometimes likes to think that he is [the best shooter], but I mean they've given me so much confidence in that. They'll run plays for me every once in a while. I think that also gives me a lot of confidence [heading into the season]." @Echo_Buttes

I asked @MollyMiller33 about how the returners of last year's Arizona State WBB team helped the newcomers get comfortable. She said, "When you have players that return and know what the atmosphere is like, know what the expectation is like, (and) how we want to play. I mean, this was good as a first win, but it was so much more than that. It was how we want to come out and set the tone every single day we step on the court. ... We've got a lot of weapons out there, and that's fun to see. It felt like we had to manufacture a lot last year, and this year we're kind of letting them play a little bit more in the open court." @Echo_Buttes

I asked Arizona State WBB head coach Molly Miller (@MollyMiller33) about Averie Lower's performance tonight. She said, "We recruited her for a reason. I think she said it best. Shooters are going to shoot, and we encourage her to shoot. ... What's typical when you go from high school to college is the game speeds up, and so your shot trigger speeds up. She's got a quick trigger from the get-go, so she's able to transition from high school to college pretty easily with that quick release." @Echo_Buttes
