This headline reads like satire.
The Indigenous rights-trampling, ecosystem-ruining #SiteC dam is addicting insult to injury at this point. #bcpoli

Orgs representing 700 000+ health professionals have been calling for a fossil fuel ad ban for 2+ years ❌⛽🤒
Healthcare workers were under fire when they proposed a tobacco ad ban too, but they didn't stop.
This is about public health – we aren't going to back down.

I just can't get over this clip.
Every single time the @bcndp claims to care about the importance of fighting racism and addressing the harms of colonialism we need to call out their silence on these disgusting comments from a high profile minister.
#bcpoli #FreePalestine
NDP minister @selinarobinson justifying genocide by calling Palestine “a crappy piece of land with nothing on it”. Hateful, bigoted remarks that should result in her immediate resignation @Dave_Eby
Save the Peace Valley, a REAL climate solution retweeted
It sure is. Flat out. @Dave_Eby: how are Palestinian students and faculty in British Columbia supposed to believe that their rights will ever be acknowledged let alone protected with this minister in charge of post-secondary education?
These remarks from BC NDP minister @selinarobinson are unacceptable. To suggest that Palestine was a "crappy piece of land with nothing on it" is a false and colonial trope, erasing Palestinians to justify their dispossession. This is textbook anti-Palestinian racism. @Dave_Eby

Holy sh-t! Essential analysis here by @bsaxifrage:
The world's #Methane #emissions are under-reported and overwhelming, satellite monitoring shows. And Canada is an outsized culprit when it comes to this dangerous greenhouse gas. See @NatObserver piece 👇nationalobserver.com/2023/10…

!!! NEW SLIDE AT THE #SITEC DAM
Aerial photos taken on the weekend show a large slide on the dam's downstream (right) side.
BC Hydro & BC govt need to be transparent & answer questions. How serious is it? How will this failure be fixed, & what will it cost us? #bcpoli
ALT On the Site C dam's downstream (right) side, which still shows a sloped face of sand-coloured earth, there is a slide, a wide arc of sloughed off material. Note that the dam is an earthfill dam, which requires cladding on top. The upstream side is already covered in a dark grey cladding material but the downstream side is not, and has slid away before it could be clad. At top right is a pile of the grey cladding material ready to be place on top. Tiny vehicles can just be seen on the sloped face, near the slide.

For those who missed this major story (which I worked on, & which sadly got buried under the also critical story of Wet'suwet'en blockading rail against Coastal Gaslink): fracking cracked BC's Peace Canyon dam, & BC Hydro covered it up:

Fracked gas in BC has already received billions in federal and provincial subsidies -- fueling the climate crisis with public dollars
Now BC wants the feds to pony up another $3 billion
But that would violate Canada's new rules to end fossil fuel subsidies

I don't know who needs to hear this*, but letting an infamously shady mining corporation build a tailings dam twice as tall as the Statue of Liberty here is a horrible idea.
*I actually do know who needs to hear it, it's the BC government, write to them:

Remember when people expecting to line their pockets with #SiteC told us we couldn't rely on wind and solar power for more than a tiny fraction of capacity in British Columbia?
