Compute gets expensive. We own ours. AI labs can grow into the bill. Everyone renting the same servers just pays the new price. xitter.cf/ParadisLabs/status/211…
Anthropic's S-1 shows that revenue is speeding ahead of its compute costs. > Revenue up ~31x in six quarters; compute costs up ~6x > Q1 2025: compute spend was 251% of revenue. > Q1 2026: revenue overtook compute for the first time. > Q2 2026: compute down to 48% of revenue ($5.6B vs $11.6B). Revenue from new model/product launches has more than offset Anthropic's rising compute costs. Caveat: > Bigger compute costs are coming: the SPCX deal alone is ~$3.1B/mth once fully delivered (expected Dec). > A warning in the S-1 is that margins may compress as new capacity is expensed before revenue arrives.

On this week's episode of DecentraLounge, we speak with Seny Orlov from @RealFi_co, an IOG incubated project that is building a 1:1 backed stablecoin for the Cardano ecosystem Targeting 8-10% yields through various emerging market strategies, Seny explains what's under the hood

2/ In proof-of-work, security comes from energy and hardware. In proof-of-stake, it comes from capital at risk. Validators put assets at stake that can be penalized for misbehavior, which makes honest behavior the economically rational choice.

5/ For institutions, that changes the selection question. It’s not only “what’s the yield?” but “what infrastructure is my capital securing the network with?”. Rewards are the output. The infrastructure is the product.

6/ As institutional capital moves into proof-of-stake, it will increasingly shape how secure and decentralized these networks are. Choosing a staking provider is also choosing what kind of network you help build.

1/ Staking is usually discussed as a yield product. That framing misses what it actually is: the security layer of proof-of-stake networks. When an institution stakes, its capital is helping decide which transactions are valid and in what order. A thread!

Ask most staking providers how their validators are performing and you get one number: uptime. For institutions, that isn’t enough. A validator can be online 100% of the time and still miss rewards through late or incorrect votes. What the protocol pays for is completed duties. Delegating validator operations transfers the work, not the accountability. Institutions should be able to see: -Duty completion per validator: attestations, vote timeliness, proposals and misses -Performance benchmarked against the network -Defined alert thresholds and written post-incident reports -Advance notice on upgrades and migrations -Figures they can reconcile with on-chain data If it matters to your risk, you should be able to see it.

Enterprises won’t rent AI forever. In a new op-ed for @TheAIJournal1, our co-founder Tom Chaffee makes the case that as AI becomes core to business operations, the advantage shifts from accessing the best model to owning the infrastructure that runs it. Why: -Sensitive data is what companies least want to send to third parties -At scale, owned infrastructure can beat per-token pricing -Most tasks don’t need frontier models; open-weight models are increasingly good enough -Vendor lock-in means exposure to pricing changes, outages and access restrictions The future is hybrid: frontier models for specialized work, and smaller models on owned infrastructure for everything else. When infrastructure becomes critical, ownership becomes strategy.

A validator can be online 100% of the time and still underperform: late votes, missed proposals, delayed inclusion. On Ethereum, the protocol rewards completed duties, not server availability. What institutions should be able to see: -Duty performance: attestation participation and timeliness, proposals and misses, per validator. -Benchmarking: rewards compared with the network baseline, with consensus, fees and MEV reported separately. -Risk posture: client mix, hosting and geographic distribution, slashing protection setup. -Incidents: what triggers an alert, how fast clients are notified, and a written post-mortem. -Change management: upgrade readiness and staged rollouts. Delegating validator operations transfers the work, not the accountability. If it matters to your risk, you should be able to see it.
