A decisive night in British Columbia. Preliminary results give the BC Conservatives 64 of 93 seats and 48% of the popular vote, making Lorne Doerkson BC’s next premier. The BC NDP fell to 27 seats and David Eby has announced he will step down as leader. The BC Greens held their two seats, with leader Emily Lowan winning Saanich North and the Islands.   A new government means new priorities, new ministers, and a new approach at the Legislature. Our team is ready to help your organization navigate the transition.

One day to go. Advance turnout fell by more than 100,000 votes from 2024, and polling points to soft support with many voters still making up their minds. Tomorrow comes down to who shows up, especially in close ridings where the BC Greens aren’t on the ballot this time. For insight on what the results mean for your organization, reach out at [email protected].

Thirteen ridings were decided by fewer than 500 votes in 2024. Young British Columbians are turning out more than ever, and in a race this close, that could decide the result. In their thought leadership, Erin Co and Taylor Kyte break down where the youth vote could matter most. Advance voting runs until October 21, with E-Day on October 24. With 47 seats needed for a majority, the BC NDP begins the final stretch with little room for error after winning the last election by just 1.6 points over the BC Conservatives. In a race this close, a handful of battleground ridings and the direction of the Green vote could determine how the BC Legislature is made up. The path forward remains uncertain: BC NDP, Conservative Party of BC, or another closely divided legislature.

I was in the moderator’s chair for today’s GRIC at Noon Webinar, digging into Alberta’s upcoming referendum and what’s really at stake. We explored what’s on the ballot, the frustration fuelling the debate, and where does the Alberta–Ottawa relationship goes from here.

What does it actually take to start a career in 2026? That was the question at the heart of the Future Skills Centre’s National Forum in Toronto, where I had the pleasure of speaking and moderating a fantastic panel.

At a pivotal moment for Canada, our Vice Chair, Hon. @SeamusORegan moderated a thoughtful discussion at the @Empire_Club with the Hon. @jkenney and the Hon. @JeanCharest_ . Coming off the heels of Quebec’s election and ahead of Alberta’s referendum vote, the conversation examined the political forces shaping the country and what these developments reveal about Canadian unity.

Over the next two weeks, British Columbians will get a chance to vote in both provincial and municipal elections, with key issues like housing, affordability, healthcare, public safety, and infrastructure shaping both campaigns. From high-profile mayoral races to major ballot questions in Victoria, Saanich, and Vancouver, the overlap is expected to blur the lines between local and provincial politics like never before.

Ambitious, thoughtful and effective. From coast to coast to coast. Couldn’t ask for a better team to work with, and I’m excited for the work ahead of us.
It’s a pleasure to announce that our colleague Hon. @SeamusORegan has begun a new chapter with us, expanding his role with our team as Vice Chair. Seamus is a proud Newfoundlander and Labradorian who has served in numerous roles within the Government of Canada, including Minister of Energy & Natural Resources, Veterans Affairs, Indigenous Services, Labour, and Seniors; Associate Minister of National Defence; and Member of Parliament for St. John’s South–Mount Pearl. As Chair of the Ministerial Working Group on Regulatory Efficiency, he recommended the formation of the Major Projects Office, Major Projects List and One Project, One Assessment. He brings valuable perspectives from Atlantic Canada and a deep understanding of the national political landscape. Drawing on decades of experience in government and broadcasting, he continues to help clients navigate complex policy environments. Learn more: globalpublicaffairs.ca/perso…

Great to be back at the Empire Club in Toronto to moderate an important conversation on CUSMA and the future of North American trade. We tackled some of the biggest questions facing Canada, the U.S. and Mexico right now:

We're watching three trends shaping the British Columbia election campaign: affordability remains the dominant issue for voters, polling suggests an increasingly competitive race, and several closely contested ridings could play an outsized role in determining the outcome. As parties continue to roll out policy commitments and refine their messages, these are the dynamics we're tracking most closely.
