In Budget 2026, PM @MarkJCarney addresses the needs of the people of Canada. Budget 2026 allocates $30 billion toward a plan to end homelessness within 10 years: • $10 billion through Build Canada Homes to support the delivery of 25,000 transitional homes.
• $5.5 billion to renew the Canada Housing Benefit and provide rental assistance to low-income Canadians.
• $5 billion for an Integrated Supports Fund to build facilities that bring housing, health care, mental health services, and addictions treatment together in one place, where people are. Homelessness is more than just a lack of housing. The full plan to achieve the goal of ending homelessness within 10 years must be a comprehensive, integrated approach that includes addressing and preventing the root causes of homelessness, such as mental health challenges and addictions, as well as building stable, safe places where people can live.

Helping Canadians cope with the high cost of living has been our federal government's priority since day one. Budget 2026 builds on last year's budget and subsequent programs to help food banks stock up and meet growing demand. Under the new Local Food Infrastructure Fund: Community Support Stream, Food Banks Canada and Second Harvest will each receive up to $10 million to further distribute to community food banks and NGOs to provide nutritious food. Budget 2026 will provide $124 million over three years, starting in 2027-28, to renew this Fund. If you are a not-for-profit community organization, applications are now open until Monday, November 16, 2026, at 5:00 PM (EST) for Food Banks Canada and Monday, November 30, 2026, at 11:59 AM (EST) for Second Harvest. Apply now!

This week, Russia intensifies its illegal war against Ukraine, bombing an aid distribution point in Zaporizhzhia, killing 53 persons.  It is one of the deadliest attacks on civilians this year. Canada condemns this violence. We have a moral responsibility to hold those responsible accountable when they violate our shared values and basic humanity. No nation can act alone. This requires stronger collective action alongside sanctions and continued economic and military support.

Did you know BC's coastal waters are home to several shark species? 15 new aquatic species, including the North Pacific spiny dogfish, will be added to Canada's Species at Risk Act. SARA protections help prevent species from being killed, harmed, captured, or sold, acting as an emergency brake against extinction and helping preserve marine biodiversity for our future generations.

As Canada grows its economic, trade and industrial base, our worforce needs will  increase. So, the fed govt is modernizing the Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) Program to address labour shortages in key sectors such as healthcare, construction and food processing :    *Allow provinces more flexibility on the numbers they can admit as Temporary Foreign Workers.  *Provide $151.5 mill over 5 yrs to improve service delivery, processing efficiency in the program. * Track & strengthen employer compliance.  *Increase Temporary Foreign Workers by 15 % depending on needs of provinces & territories. TFWs workers make up 1% of 🇨🇦 labour force and less than 10% of non-permanent residents. As always, Canadians remain first in line for all available jobs. These changes will respond to unfulfilled needs in very specific sectors.

Budget 2026 focuses on building Canada as a reliable, stable energy superpower and partner in an uncertain world. With abundant renewable energy resources, we have what the world needs. The following are highlights of Budget 2026 that will help achieve this goal: Budget 2026 builds the infrastructure that links Canada across this vast land to power our homes, cars, factories, and technologies with clean, affordable energy through: • $50B to connect provincial grids and build thousands of kilometres of transmission lines through a National Electricity Strategy
• $6.5B to expand Canada's nuclear energy sector and strengthen energy security
• $2.3B to develop critical minerals, powering the technologies and industries of the future The countries with abundant electricity will lead the 21st century. The power that lights our homes is the power that strengthens Canada.

Budget 2026 gives B.C. a prominent place in building a strong economy and diversifying trade through: • $6.5 billion to support the forestry industry, which has been hit hard by tariffs, and the workers and communities that depend on it
• Up to $50 billion in earthquake insurance protection, recognizing the real seismic risks faced by communities across coastal B.C.
• $3.7 billion for nature and conservation, including protecting and restoring Pacific salmon that support Indigenous communities, fisheries, and local economies. Investing in B.C.'s strengths, addressing B.C.'s challenges, and building B.C.'s future is how we build British Columbia and control our nation's destiny.

It is the start of Veterans’ Week, a time to honor the generations of Canadians who have served our country in times of peace, war, and here at home. Since Confederation, more than 2.3 million Canadians from every province and territory, including many immigrants and Indigenous Peoples, have served. They fought selflessly to defend freedom, from the beaches of Normandy to the Korean Peninsula. They served Canada. Now Canada serves them. Throughout this week, Canadians will wear poppies, gather at cenotaphs and memorials, reflect, and pay tribute. It is our duty to remember their bravery, service, and sacrifice. Greater love hath no one than to lay down your life for your country. #LestWeForget.

Budget 2026 focuses primarily on 2 issues. Affordability, helping Canadians cope with the high cost of living, and growing the economy & securing Canada's sovereignty as it faces external threats. It increases the Groceries & Essentials Benefit by 50%, invests $44.7B in housing, and helps families lower energy costs. It strengthens Canadian industry through the Productivity Mega Deduction, which will allow large, medium, and small businesses to immediately deduct 60% of investments in expanding or creating new businesses, which will, in turn, grow our business sector, increase productivity, and create up to 80,000 jobs.

Today, the budget, "Masters of Our Destiny," will be tabled in the House. It will set the direction of this country for years to come. In an uncertain and tumultuous global environment that has impacted fuel and food prices, this budget will focus on putting people first, helping Canadians build a stronger and more prosperous future. It will focus on what's best for Canadians, controlling our destiny and investing in ourselves today, while building toward a resilient tomorrow.

My thoughts are with all the victims of this tragedy, which has claimed 69 innocent lives and left many others injured. Gracias a the rescue workers, medical personnel, and volunteers who did everything possible to save lives and comfort those in need.
