You can't laugh off the concept of scaring your own countrymen by telling them to stockpile.
Either the situation is grave enough that we should be preparing for blackouts and food shortages, or it isn't. If it is, the least he can do is publicly commit to defence spending.
‘You’ve just spooked everybody by saying stockpile…what are you doing to invest in defence?’
Susanna Reid challenges the PM on whether he will hit the defence spending target of 3% of GDP by 2030.
Andy Burnham insists his government ‘will’ hit the target.

I was shopping in Brighton and antizionists tried to stop me buying Israeli goods from Waitrose. They said I’d be “racist” to buy them. I asked if it was xenophobic to boycott a whole nation. They had no answers. So I bought LOADS of Israeli products and they were NOT happy.

Ah. So they DO have a line you can’t cross.
Same thing in any classroom or school.
There is always a line.
The question is where you draw it.
The Louvre is where France chose to draw the line.
French police warned protesters: "If you approach the Louvre Museum in Paris, we will open fire!"
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
French police issued no such warning to open fire near the Louvre. Coverage of the Oct 17-19 protests details non-lethal crowd control like tear gas amid clashes and a small peaceful student blockade of the museum.

Andy Burnham says that, after becoming Prime Minister, he asked officials whether Russia interfered in the 2016 EU referendum. He claims they told him “yes” — and that Russia did so by spreading mis- and disinformation on social media.
But Mr Burnham is not the first politician to make this claim. In 2017, then Prime Minister Theresa May said Russian misinformation was distorting Britain’s democratic process and had to be tackled.
So what is the evidence?
This morning, one of Mr Burnham’s junior Foreign Office ministers pushed back, saying there is no evidence that Russian efforts to sway the referendum succeeded.
In his briefing for the FSU, Misinformation about Misinformation, David Rose examines how politicians have repeatedly exaggerated the threat of misinformation — and used it to justify greater internet censorship.
A study by the Oxford Internet Institute examined nearly six million social media posts about the referendum. It found that only a minuscule proportion could be traced to Russia. The study described the impact as “tiny”.
Watch FSU Policy and Research Director @DavidRoseUK discuss the briefing, and read it below 👇
Can’t have it both ways Andy… did the Russians swing the Brexit vote or not?
Both videos clips seem very clear, and you are furiously backpedaling whilst saying we all heard you wrong.
Well now … has Burnham just misled Parliament? … Because from where I sit it is very clear.
▪️The rest is politics …
“Was there interference in the 2016 referendum from Russia and I had the clear answer back. Yes there was”
▪️And then in Parliament …
“We have evidence they tried to interfere in the 2019 election and we think it’s inconceivable this was the first time.
So erm …. He gobbed off on a left wing podcast and didn’t think we’d notice? Er… we did.
