Discord messages are about to become searchable on Google! Starting in mid-December, messages from eligible public channels in Discoverable #Discord servers may appear on Google and other search engines. These servers have at least 1,000 members and meet Discord's activity and safety requirements. The change is designed to make gaming tips, guides, strategies, and community discussions easier to find online, but it also means your messages could reach people far beyond the server where you posted them. The feature is ON by default in most regions. Discord says usernames and avatars won't appear alongside indexed messages, and messages posted before the mid-December rollout won't be included. Private servers, DMs, and group DMs are excluded. In the EU, UK, Canada, Brazil, Australia, and South Korea, the setting is OFF by default. Teen users are excluded entirely. Want to opt out? Go to User Settings → Data & Privacy and disable “Show my message content from Discoverable channels on web pages.” Important: turning it off prevents future messages from appearing, but messages sent while it was enabled may remain visible until you delete them. #Privacy #TechNews #Gaming #GeekRealmHub

Sony's So-net suffers data breach affecting 2.58 million records! Sony Group subsidiary Sony Network Communications has confirmed a cyberattack targeting the member database of So-net, its Japanese internet service provider. The breach also affected customers of plala's S Course. According to the company's October 27 announcement, the unauthorized access occurred on October 19, but So-net did not detect it until October 23. The investigation subsequently confirmed the exposure of 2,585,481 customer records. The compromised personal information includes names, phone numbers, email addresses, user IDs, dates of birth, gender, and internet connection IDs. The incident also exposed email addresses and their associated passwords for 54,401 accounts across four specific email services. Additionally, 16 records containing bank account information and seven password-reset notification records were compromised. Sony Network Communications says the affected servers were shut down and access was blocked after the intrusion was detected. The company also reset passwords for the affected email services on October 27 and is contacting impacted customers. The company says credit card information was not involved and that no secondary damage related to the breach had been confirmed as of its announcement. The cause of the attack remains under investigation. #Sony #Cybersecurity #TechNews #GeekRealmHub
