Gerraint gave the rosemary one final glance before gathering the remaining equipment. The leaves would need time to become properly dry and brittle, so there was no point in waiting around for the process to finish today.
“Guess I'll check it again later.”
“The dark, warm place with good air circulation…” he murmured, glancing around to make sure he had chosen the proper spot. “That should do.”
He then carried the bundle to the designated drying area. Remembering the instructions, Gerraint turned the bundle upside down, keeping the stems above and the leaves hanging below. He secured it in place before taking a step back to inspect it.
“Rosemary, I think.”
He carefully picked up a few sprigs and inspected them one by one. A couple of leaves and small sections of the stems looked damaged, so he trimmed them away first, making sure only the healthier parts remained.
Gerraint made his way to Greenhouse 1, where several pots of culinary herbs had been prepared for the practical session. He slowed down as he looked over the selection—rosemary, oregano, sage, basil, and mint—before eventually settling his gaze on the rosemary.
