Lynx Legend Sylvia Fowles’ No. 34 went into the rafters at Target Center last night. I wrote about a wonderful celebration of a truly special, one-of-a-kind human being — Sweet Syl — whom I will remember for everything fans didn’t see. For @canishoopus: canishoopus.com/2023/6/12/23…

"The team and [Anthony Edwards'] people felt that the injury he had in the playoffs was addressed... it's certainly a worsening, or a somewhat different condition than what he felt in the playoffs last year." @JonKrawczynski on why Anthony Edwards didn't have the knee procedure that could cost him half his season over the summer.

Anthony Edwards will have surgery on Thursday, after which there will be a better idea on the timeline for recovery, I'm told. As of now, the belief is it's going to be more than two months.

So here's what I have: - Ant was feeling really good after resting his knees in the summer. - Camp went well. Then he tweaked it in Miami. MRI revealed need for a cleanup. - Doing it now gets him back likely in Jan. He believes Wolves can contend for the title when he returns.

Whether Donte DiVincenzo or Anthony Edwards returns to action first will be an interesting storyline to follow over the next 6-8 weeks.

A different, positive spin s that the Wolves have a successful case study with an in-season arthroscopic knee surgery to a star player... Karl-Anthony Towns had one done on March 12, 2024, and was *incredible* on their playoff run that year. Rehab kept him in phenomenal shape and he hit the ground running in a major way coming back from that.

The news about Anthony Edwards getting surgery now also begs the question -- is there more to the injury now than there was in June? If surgery was on the table after the season, and the recovery was still 2 months, why wouldn't both sides want to address it then?

Anthony Edwards is set to be extension eligible after this season, but likely won't sign one before summer 2028 now that he will be ineligible to make an All-NBA team or win a season-long award this season. Adds some serious pressure for the Wolves to win this year and next.

The Timberwolves look at Anthony Edwards surgery as a way to get it addressed as soon as possible and hope is he’ll be back sometime in December or so and be fully ready to go, per source

The health of LaMelo Ball now becomes paramount to the Wolves' ambitions in the West. Jaden McDaniels has looked awesome as a scorer in his role, and maintained his efficiency when scaling up his usage last year. Jonathan Kuminga can *really* make an impact now, too.
Massive news for the Wolves, who will presumably miss Anthony Edwards for this stretch leading up to Christmas. Edwards has always been a fast healer, but surgery is a different beast. The good news is this is probably the easiest stretch of their schedule, and TJ Shannon can assume more usage.

Just in: Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards will undergo an arthroscopic procedure on his ailing right knee and miss up to two months, sources tell ESPN.

Anthony Edwards is questionable against the Warriors with right knee injury management xitter.cf/anthonyVslater/status/…
Yaxel Lendeborg is questionable for tomorrow's game in Minnesota. Left foot inflammation. He was icing it postgame in Denver last night. All the other Warriors veterans are cleared.

The Wolves are bringing back Enrique Freeman on a 2-way contract, per source. They had one open 2-way, looked at several options. Freeman is well-liked and has familiarity with the system. He will begin in Iowa.

Under-the-radar, since the Wolves are 3-1, but their free throw shooting leaves a lot to be desired: - 14/23 (60.9%) tonight - 16/25 (64%) vs TOR - 17/30 (56.7%) at ORL - 18/29 (62%) at MIA 60.7% on the season, dead last in the NBA by a MILE. Indiana is 29th at 70.1%, the same as the gap between 29th and 8th.

Ant's midrange game has been really, really good this season. And getting to it in all sorts of different ways.
