Excited to be working with @ArdscoilNaMara helping to open up their woodland, making it more accessible & potentially increase the diversity by adding a more diverse mix of native trees. Most importantly, we will educate the educators, showing them how to use this valuable space.
With the ESD fund we’ve been able to get training from @LEAFIreland on how to make our woodland accessible to the students & staff. By the end of this academic year, our students will feel what it’s like to be in a forest, learning in nature 😍 It’s another step on the journey.
LEAF has been engaging with student teachers from @MarinoInstitute, thanks to funding from @agriculture_ie, demonstrating how to engage in Citizen Science, recording the species diversity & numbers found in their newly created woodland habitat #AnChoillBheag 🌳
As part of our 'Educate the Educators' project, funded by @agriculture_ie, we have been engaging with student teachers from @DCU using #activeoutdoorlearning to demonstrate how they can teach their future students the importance of healthy and resilient forests🌳
Nothing quite like bringing people together to plant trees🌳
Early Sept. student teachers learned about the importance of trees while planting a hedgerow on the grounds of @MarinoInstitute & were shown how to engage school students in forest related activities @agriculture_ie

LEAF no longer solely focuses on Forests, our acronym now includes ‘Ecosystems’ promoting the protection & restoration of ecosystems 🌊🌳
Our first non forest related project was with TY students & staff from @PresSecTralee carrying out dune restoration work on Banna Beach🌊

Think cities can't breathe?
Urban forestry is our unsung hero, turning grey to green, slashing stress, cleaning air and water AND fighting off urban heat like an eco-shield.
Let's champion our leafy warriors and transform our concrete jungles

We love revisiting our #AnChoillBheag sites, better still when we get the opportunity to engage with the soon-to-be teachers from @MICLimerick educating them about the importance of healthy, resilient forests🌿
These LEAF workshops are kindly being funded by @agriculture_ie 👏
