A judge ordered a former CIA contractor accused of leaking classified information to his journalist Substack-er girlfriend released Tuesday.
DOJ challenged the ruling on the spot. The judge stayed his order, keeping Ian Brinksman in custody until noon Wednesday.

At one point, the judge told the court he had looked up cases himself after questioning several of the prosecutors’ citations.
Brinksman’s mother offered to supervise him. Porter ordered passports surrendered, no contact with his romantic partner and no internet access.
