My kids will experience my subject.
They will not "master" my subject.
Some of their experiences will be new--most will be review.
Some of it'll stick. Some of it won't.
Some of what they experienced will perhaps be useful later in their lives--much won't.
That's learning.

Administrators demanding that their teachers teach “bell-to-bell” are out of touch with reality. This mandate disregards humanity, creates unrealistic expectations, leads to burnout, and does not yield positive results for children.

Jeans everyday.
Having teachers pay to wear them on a special day is insult to injury.
If it's okay one day a week. It's okay all the time. We teach kids, jeans are appropriate attire.
Asking teachers to pay for the "privilege" when they are underpaid has to be the most ridiculous thing ever.

in a meeting listening to a 2nd grade teacher talk about her elaborate PBIS system and having a 💡moment about why her students may have struggled to adjust to my class back in the fall —

When we see and meet EACH kid, ALL kids never look the same again.
But, that’s only part of it.
We never really see ourselves the same again, either.
And that’s a reckoning.
