Today we celebrate the anniversary of the first flight of the Hawks Huzza, the most important aeroplane, nay machine, ever built. Pipe down Spitfire and P51 fanbois: you are standing on the shoulders of a giant.

I always ring my mum. It was much more of an event for her.
why are men always ok with doing nothing for their birthday?

I was going to cook for the May household this evening, but following a thorough cost/benefit/effort analysis of our domestic circumstances, I’ve ordered a Chinese. #Chinese

Not wishing to start a fight or anything, but I’ve never believed the ‘Russian steel’ explanation of rusty Italian cars. They rusted because they weren’t finished properly. This Alfa is probably galvanised, btw. All mild steel will rust, regardless of where it’s made. Under certain conditions it will rust whilst you watch. My dad’s Rover also rusted, and Lada Zhiguli made from Russian steel were notoriously long-lived. Metallurgists?
How the hell has all that Russian steel survived?

Right: who was that, in the other one, going in the opposite direction on the A30? I hope mine looks as good as yours did.

This is outstanding and should be studied at post-graduate level.
It would be my pleasure to suggest some cardigans. This thread will include a range of options, including some that stretch our imagination of what a cardigan can look like. It will also include tips on how to repair moth-ridden clothes. And find cheaper alternatives. 🧵

Dear @dieworkwear - my faithful cardigan has been destroyed by the murderous moth, and I need a replacement. Buttons or zipper, I’m not fussed. Needs to fulfil around-the-house and down-the-pub roles. I don’t want to look like a fart and neither a clothes horse. Must be comforting. Any suggestions?

The spanner motif on my new beer is directly inspired by the adjusting spanner for the compound slide on my Myford Super 7 lathe. I hope this knowledge makes an already excellent pint even more enjoyable.

Big pharma: you can dispense (geddit?) with the little leaflet in the packet of pills. Nobody reads it, and it’s annoying.
