📢 Ongoing fighting is impacting people’s ability to safely seek medical care in Yemen.
This morning, a strike hit only 150 metres away from Mocha General hospital, where our teams are working in the maternity and paediatric wards.

🎨 What do children in Gaza draw during mental health counselling sessions?
Motassem drew “fetching water and the army throwing shells… and the tanks and the quadcopter drone…”

A Russian drone struck civilian infrastructure yesterday in Synelnykove, Dnipropetrovsk region.
The strike occurred less than one kilometre from a hospital supported by MSF where staff responded to the mass casualty incident. Four people were killed and more than 13 injured.
We condemn this senseless attack on civilian infrastructure.

On 24 October, at around 6 pm, a Russian drone struck civilian infrastructure in Synelnykove, Dnipropetrovsk region, some 80 kilometres from the frontline. Four people were killed and more than 13 injured in the attack according to the Ukrainian authorities.
“It’s hot in here! 💦 But safety comes first.”
When responding to Ebola, health workers must wear personal protective equipment - called PPE - to protect themselves and others from infection.
These suits are vital, but they are also difficult to work in: they are hot, heavy, and limit the time during which teams can safely stay in contact with patients to one hour at a time. This is extremely challenging work for our teams.
Hang in there, Dr Chopper!

In Busuma camp, Burundi, people who fled violence in DRC are living in difficult conditions. Despite the ongoing insecurity back home in DRC, many refugees say they would rather return than remain at Busuma camp:
Ten years ago, French police dismantled the ‘Jungle’ displacement camp in Calais, forcefully evacuating its communities.
Today, these communities still need shelter and protection. Only now, they have to seek it in scattered areas, far from services and protection mechanisms.

In Syria, these are two barriers that people face when seeking healthcare. By supporting more than 20 general healthcare centres across 10 governorates, we’re working to reduce them both:
On Yemen’s western coast, families are seeking safety away from the frontline of fighting.
At displacement camps, our teams are treating people for health issues linked to poor living conditions, such as respiratory tract infections:

In Gaza, many children have had their childhood defined by fear and violence.
This is reflected in what they draw during mental health counselling sessions: quadcopters, tents, queues for food, rubble.

In Aden and Lahj governorates, Yemen, our teams are visiting displacement camps where new families have recently arrived.
They’re seeing that living conditions at the camps must be urgently improved:

In Gaza, our colleagues run mental health counselling sessions for children where music, games, stories, and drawing provide an opportunity for expression:

🎨 During mental health sessions, our colleagues in Gaza ask children to draw what is on their minds. These drawings show their reality of violence and fear, and memories of safety and play:

On the evening of 15 October, Israeli settlers violently assaulted our colleague during a targeted attack on his village in the south of the West Bank, Palestine.
We condemn all attacks against civilians and call for the protection of Palestinian communities, patients, and healthcare workers.

On 16 October, a drone strike hit Almawashi market in Nyala, South Darfur, Sudan, killing at least four people, including a child.
Wounded people were brought to the Ministry of Health Nyala Teaching hospital, which we support. Medical teams treated eight people.
This market was hit on the busiest day of the week — making civilian casualties inevitable. Once again, we call on the Sudanese Armed Forces, and all parties to the conflict, to show respect for civilian lives and stop attacks on markets and other civilian areas. Civilians must be spared from this hideous violence.
