You don't make the baseball team in the SPRING.
You make it RIGHT NOW.
NOVEMBER. DECEMBER. JANUARY. FEBRUARY.
When it's cold outside.
When nobody's watching.
When there's no lineup card, no scoreboard, no crowd, and no recognition.
Somebody is getting STRONGER.
Somebody is getting FASTER.
Somebody is fixing that swing.
Somebody is learning to COMMAND the baseball.
And somebody is doing absolutely NOTHING, assuming they'll have the same starting spot they had last year.
Here's the reality...
LAST YEAR'S PERFORMANCE DOESN'T GUARANTEE THIS YEAR'S OPPORTUNITY.
The player who was behind you in June might be ahead of you in March.
Four months is a LONG TIME for a hungry ballplayer to close the gap.
Don't wait until tryouts to prove you deserve to play.
MAKE THE TEAM BEFORE THE SEASON STARTS. ⚾️

When a pitcher tells me he "can't gain weight", total caloric intake is the first thing I check.
Only 4 of 92 college baseball players in this survey ate 3,000 kcal a day or more.
Median intake was 2,077 kcal a day. The estimated requirement for high activity men in this age group was 3,050 kcal a day, and 3,555 kcal a day at the group's median weight of 75 kg. Protein came in at a median of 79 g a day against a calculated range of 105 to 150 g.
