🇺🇦🇷🇺 EVEN RUSSIAN MILITARY SOURCES ACKNOWLEDGE UKRAINIAN COUNTERATTACKS IN ZAPORIZHZHIA Russia's own military commentators are acknowledging that Ukrainian forces continue to counterattack along the southern front, complicating Moscow's attempts to advance toward Orikhiv. In its latest assessment of the Zaporizhzhia direction, the pro-Russian military analysis group Rybar describes ongoing Ukrainian operations around Mala Tokmachka, where small assault groups are attempting to establish positions amid the ruins of the settlement. Further east, Ukrainian forces are also attempting to consolidate positions near Kopani and Hirke, with drone operators targeting Russian positions while infantry groups probe for opportunities to penetrate their defensive lines. The significance is not that Ukraine has suddenly achieved a major breakthrough. No such territorial gains have been independently confirmed. Rather, Russian forces are still having to contend with Ukrainian counterattacks in an area where Moscow has been attempting to expand its control and threaten Ukrainian defensive positions around Orikhiv. Rybar's own assessment illustrates how difficult it remains for Russian troops to establish secure control over devastated settlements, particularly when Ukrainian drones can monitor movements and disrupt attempts to consolidate positions. Ukraine is not simply absorbing Russian attacks in the south. Its forces are still contesting the initiative, even in sectors where Moscow has concentrated considerable offensive pressure.
