Claire Sheppard, who was diagnosed with heart failure after pregnancy, was part of the research team and helped shape the study: “So little is known about heart disease in pregnancy, my diagnosis was delayed and my life was put at risk..."
Heart disease affects around 2% of pregnant women and is the leading cause of maternal death in the UK. We want to change this ❤️ A major NIHR-supported study, known as PREG-HEART, is inviting pregnant women anywhere in the UK to join online and take part from the comfort of home on a smartphone or computer. The study findings will be crucial to build the evidence needed to improve care, identify risks earlier and make pregnancy safer for generations to come. Hosted on @thehearthive digital platform, the study is supported by the NIHR-@TheBHF Cardiovascular Partnership, @ImperialBRC and @pumpinghearts, and is led by researchers from @imperialcollege and @KingsCollegeLon.
