As Israelis vote today, analysts warn that a change in government is unlikely to bring a change in policy toward Palestinians. At an @imeupolicy briefing earlier this month, @dianabuttu, Tamir Sorek, & @AssalRad challenged Western media’s focus on Netanyahu, arguing the deeper issue is a political system built on occupation and exclusion, one that leaves Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza without a vote and has sidelined Palestinians who hold Israeli citizenship.
Whatever the result, Palestinians will remain outside the ballot box and at the center of its consequences.

Khateeb reflects on travel and memory, and on the concept of home, describing how places remain alive in human consciousness long after their destruction and regardless of physical distance.

From the late nineteenth century, the Zionist movement developed narratives portraying Palestine as a neglected land awaiting redemption, accompanied by efforts including tree planting, mapmaking, and archaeological excavation to construct a vision of the land as an ancient Hebrew space.🧵
This #PalQuest Highlight traces these processes alongside the emergence of Palestinian national consciousness and resistance, from the late Ottoman period through the Nakba and into the present: palquest.org/en/highlight/33…
