One day brain implants will be as normal as getting a piercing. @juanbenet has been betting on that since 2021. When we talked, he said the medical use cases are just the start: “These other cases around kind of enhancing the human experience, I think, are even more broadly applicable.” Congrats on launching PLC Neurotech!!!
Neurotech is Humanity’s Next Frontier! I’ve been investing in neurotech since 2021 and working with teams building BCIs, NeuroAI, and connectomics. It now feels like AI did in ~2019. We are entering an extraordinary era: neurotech already restores functions, it can enhance our capabilities, and will evolve what it means to be human. PLC Neurotech is the fund backing the extraordinary founders and defining companies of this booming industry.

I've been writing about neurotech for 20+ years now, in both fiction and non. This is the most exciting the field has ever been. Truly sci-fi stuff. Awesome to see how @juanbenet is investing in and supporting companies here.

very few people can see the future as clearly as Juan. He was one of the first investors to believe in @eonsys, well before our fly work, when almost nobody took brain emulation seriously. I’m incredibly grateful. He’s brilliant and deeply technical, and he’s also kind and warm. He genuinely cares about humanity flourishing. Agree- neurotech feels like AI did around 2019. I highly recommend working with @juanbenet, @SeanEscola, and the team at @plcapital.

Onchain operations security goes far beyond smart contract audits. Even audited protocols can remain vulnerable through compromised signers, malicious front ends, custody or cloud infrastructure exploits. As institutional adoption grows, we need to rethink how we approach security across onchain finance. 🎙️ Our cofounder @hbbiok joined Mike and Skyler on @AltFundsNetwork podcast to discuss these challenges, lessons from past security incidents, and how blockchain technology itself can become part of the solution.
Why smart contract audits aren’t enough to secure crypto assets? Henri Binsztok of @OKcontract explains how compromised signers, malicious front ends, and AI-driven cyberattacks expose critical gaps in DeFi security—and how Chainwall aims to add another layer of on-chain protection. #CryptoSecurity #DeFi #Blockchain

At @XRPSEOUL and @token2049 this month, PLC Rails GP @laceywisdom challenged several common assumptions about where stablecoins will create value. In the U.S., undue risk without asymmetric rewards does not make much sense for consumers. Stablecoin yield accounts are a difficult proposition when people can get similar return profiles from insured products. The case is much stronger in emerging markets, where stablecoins can offer FX volatility hedging and USD exposure. Lacey also argued that Visa and Mastercard are the payment networks of tomorrow. That does not mean stablecoins can’t play an important role. It means companies need to focus on hard problems existing payment networks do not (or cannot) solve today — or on upgrading what is still broken. They win by building the things Visa was never designed to do. Even if stablecoins live up to their potential, consumers may never know what a stablecoin is. Most people don’t know what XMTP or RSS are, despite using the stack built on top of these protocols daily. Stablecoin infrastructure will have won when it works the same way: useful, embedded, and largely invisible.
