Last episode, the data gave the Fed room to wait on a second rate hike. This week’s inflation reports took most of that room away. In the latest Realpage Economy Express, Arben Skivjani, Deputy Chief Economist at Realpage, breaks down hotter consumer and producer prices, what the Fed’s minutes signal, an uneasy consumer, and what it means for apartment demand. Consumer prices climbed 3.7% from a year ago, and wholesale prices jumped 1.3% in a single month. Retail sales rose 0.8%, yet most of that was higher prices.
