People across the country made their voices clear: they want change. I'm running to lead the Education and Labor Committee so we can save public education and meet this moment by lowering costs, rebuilding trust with working families, and holding the Trump administration accountable.

I introduced the Transforming Education for the Future Act to rebuild our system of public education to meet the moment. That means providing a well-rounded education to all students, supporting teaching and learning so students become critical thinkers, and addressing socioeconomic barriers. This is what we need for students, the economy, and democracy.

I'm demanding an investigation into the ICE agents who slashed the tire of legal observers in Hillsboro. This is harassment, intimidation, retaliation, and a violation of the First Amendment.

Secretary McMahon has denied many borrowers the loan relief they were promised and earned, even when they've made the required number of payments. Teachers and other public service workers made academic and career decisions based on this promise; they deserve better. The cost of housing can make or break a family’s budget. Affordable housing programs, such as the Housing Choice Voucher Program, are essential safety nets when the housing market can’t meet the needs of the community. This award will enable the Housing Authority of Portland to continue its essential work to support our most vulnerable households and keep roofs over the heads of countless Portland families.
