The data is in & the time is now to modernize work culture for the better. I'm reintroducing the 32-Hour Workweek Act to allow workers to begin reclaiming their time, and their lives, with no loss of pay.

Today we honor all who answered the call to serve and deploy. To the brave servicemembers of our armed forces, thank you for your unwavering service. And to the military families who stand behind them, we stand with you too.

Our soldiers make tremendous sacrifices for our country. The least we can do is give veterans with combat-related disabilities the full retirement and disability pay they deserve.
I joined @RepMarkTakano and @DAVHQ to call for a House vote on the Major Richard Star Act.
Let’s get this done for our veterans.

The Major Richard Star Act was ready for a vote, but Speaker Johnson chose to send members home early. A majority of the House, 218 Members, has spoken; Speaker Johnson, schedule the vote.

Wilber Garces Perez was shot in the back by an ICE agent in Austin. Now he's in detention with the bullet still in his body.
Today, 100+ Members of Congress are demanding that ICE get him medical care, stop trying to deport a key witness, and immediately release the video footage.

The Taking Benefits From America's Veterans Act never had a chance of passing because veterans and Veterans' Service Organizations hated it. Now, Republicans have released the House for an early recess and, once again, have failed to deliver benefits to America's veterans. When will Republicans put veterans first?

The Major Richard Star Act discharge petition finally has 218 signatures. Now's the time for Speaker Johnson to show up for the 59,000 combat-injured veterans and get a vote on the MRSA scheduled in the House.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we honor the Hispanic servicemembers and veterans who have bravely served our nation—from the front lines to the home front. Their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication have helped ensure the freedoms we all share.

Let’s be clear: DHS is legally required to provide and pay for ALL medical care in ICE detention.
They are failing to do so.
In July, I opened an investigation with @RepMarkTakano into the lapse in payments and its effects. @SecMullinDHS and @SecVetAffairs, the American people want answers.
Medical care in ICE detention is not negotiable! DHS must pay medical bills instead of spending their billions on cruel shock gloves, robot dogs, and surveillance technology.
ICE owes millions in unpaid bills to hospitals and, in some cases, detainees themselves have been directly billed for care, records show. sfchronicle.com/politics/art…

We are 1️⃣ signature away from the 218 threshold for the Major Richard Star Act Discharge Petition. Many have said this isn't viable, but it's clear this is THE path forward. RM @RepMarkTakano urges Republican colleagues to join us and get this bill to the House Floor for a vote.

VA tried to hide the $17 billion cost increase going to Oracle for the EHRM program from veterans, Congress, and taxpayers. RM @RepMarkTakano has a problem with this.
Mark Takano retweeted
$17,000,000,000. That's the increase VA tried to keep out of public view in its Oracle EHR contract. For comparison: $17 billion could fund veterans’ benefits and care VA says it can’t afford. We need answers and accountability.
Mark Takano retweeted
Veterans of all eras agree their benefits shouldn't come at the expense of future servicemembers. We can fund the Major Richard Star Act without harming those wearing the uniform today.
Mark Takano retweeted
Combat-injured veterans shouldn’t have to choose between retirement & disability compensation. The Major Richard Star Act ensures they receive both. Call your member's office & encourage them to sign RM @RepMarkTakano's discharge petition. The petition needs 3 more signatures for a vote.
Mark Takano retweeted
House Republicans insist on funding Trump's war with Iran but are pushing a bill that cuts veterans’ benefits for servicemembers when they return from conflict. Congress must honor the contract, pay for the cost of war, and reject H.R. 9237.

🎉GOOD NEWS🎉
The House just DEFEATED a Republican-sponsored amendment that would have codified Trump's trans military ban into law!
We're never going to give up the fight to protect our nation's transgender servicemembers.
🚨BAD AMENDMENTS ALERT🚨
The House has begun debate on several anti-LGBTQI+ amendments to the FY27 National Defense Authorization Act.
We urge the House to unite against these attacks on our servicemembers, their families, and DOD employees and REJECT these amendments!

ALT Republicans want to add three anti-LGBTQI+ amendments to the National Defense Authorization Act. CODIFYING TRUMP’S TRANS MILITARY BAN; TRANS HEALTHCARE BAN for transgender servicemembers and dependents, including banning mental healthcare for servicemembers’ trans children; EMPOWERING CHILD PREDATORS by subjecting DoDEA students who want to participate in athletics to invasive exams of their bodies to “prove” their genders.
