As part of DEW’s Veterans in the Workforce campaign, we are celebrating November by sharing success stories from jobseekers and employers who entered the STAYS program, as well as data on the committed veteran employees and employers across the state who keep our economy and workforce running.

The 2026 Veterans Career and Resource Fair was a huge success!🎯✅
The 2026 Veterans Career and Resource Fair took place on Wednesday, November 5th at the @SCNationalGuard Armory, and honored veterans during National Veterans in the Workforce Month, offering a wide variety of job resources and countless employers ready to hire veterans.
The event was hosted by DEW and @SCWorksMidlands and connected jobseekers with countless participating employers looking to hire. Attendees connected with hiring employers, explored job opportunities, and accessed community and state veteran resources. Additional employer networking was also accessible via the Virtual Engagement Center.
Thank you to SC Works Midlands and the countless employers who participated in this event and gave their time and resources to help veterans transition into civilian life with meaningful careers. What a great start to Veterans in the Workforce Month!

Happy two year anniversary to DEWs Stay to Apply Your Skills (STAYS) program!2️⃣🎉
The STAYS program, which stands for Stay to Apply Your Skills, works to keep veterans and their spouses in South Carolina by connecting them with employers seeking their specialized skills! The STAYS program offers countless career resources, including five interview opportunities for veterans who use the SC Works system. DEW and SC Works partners also provide comprehensive support, such as resume assistance, job matching, interview prep, and direct employer networking, on behalf of program participants seeking training, employment, and other assistance to build a life right here in South Carolina.
Over the past two years, the STAYS program has helped nearly 1,200 participants transition into civilian life. Of the nearly 1,200, nearly 500 found employment opportunities! Additionally, nearly 450 employers willing to hire veterans and their spouses have joined the STAYS program.
DEW is beyond grateful for the ability to connect veteran jobseekers with eager employers and looks forward to many more years of helping more veterans, spouses, and employers through our STAYS program! DEW would like to thank all participants in the past two years for their willingness to work with us and the SC Works system.
