*tap tap tap* is this thing on? @khuldune's delightful episode on biryani, cricket and geopolitics for @TestKitchen is LIVE in the world! I had the honor of editing him and listening to him eat half a dozen different kinds of biryani. americastestkitchen.com/podc…

Thanks to @FamVacationist and Local Family Passport for your insights; to @andeetagle and @meghankeane for making it sing; and to @MalakaGharib and Beck Harlan for making it shine online. Good podcasts are truly a team effort!

I'm working on an episode for @NPRLifeKit about traveling with kids under 2. Got a great baby travel hack? One great piece of advice you'd wish you'd heard before going on that big trip? Let me know so we can (maybe) feature it!

Layoffs suck in any industry, but I feel like it's especially difficult for journalists who work with a sense of mission. Speaking from experience: Give yourself time to grieve — it is a loss of purpose as well as livelihood.

There is perhaps no feeling more humbling as a court reporter than crawling on the floor to plug your laptop into a hidden outlet behind a very large, wooden bench. (aka I'm covering opening arguments in the civil trial against the NRA today...tune into @npratc at 5:50 pm!)

I haven't lived in Nashville for ~7 years but hit subscribe so fast because I want more Emily in my inbox no matter what the topic is. (But also Nashville news stays wild, never change)
I'm starting to occasionally host @WPLN's NashVillager newsletter! (Turns out, if you text @mackstarks too often about how much you love his newsletter, he'll ask you to write for it.) Look out for jokes, Nashville recs, and news. Subscribe here! wpln.org/nashvillager/

In a world full of gloom, we have a little piece of joy today. I got to visit the puzzle master himself, Will Shortz, and talked with him about his love of puzzles, table tennis, and about coming out at 69 yrs old. npr.org/2023/11/12/121253480…

For over a decade, Rutherford County, Tenn. was arresting and jailing kids for even the most minor offenses. A boy accused of stealing a football jersey–jailed A girl accused of pulling someone’s hair–jailed A girl trying to use a blank check at a school book fair–jailed 🧵1/11
