ICELAND SAID NO TO EU NEGOTIATIONS
The people of Iceland want to protect their fishing industry and yesterday said no to EU negotiations. That was very smart, since the EU is not for resource owners. According to Sintef, Norway has lost 21,000 jobs to the EU as a result of tariffs on processed fish. Norway is highly resource-rich and also has electricity, oil, gas and large deposits of critical minerals. EU policy is designed for importing and consuming countries, not for resource owners. Now the EU wants control over Norwegian mineral resources through a minerals law (CRMA) in the EEA Agreement, and the government is planning to give it to them. It will be the greatest intrusion into Norwegian sovereignty and the Norwegian economy ever.
