Following the Government's decision to approve Green Hill Solar Farm, my colleague @sarah_bool and I have written together to West Northamptonshire and North Northamptonshire Councils. We are asking both councils to urgently explore the possibility of a Judicial Review and whether they can work together on a legal challenge. With the deadline of 19 November approaching, it is important that every possible avenue is explored. I have opposed this development from the outset, and I won't stop standing up for the residents who have fought so hard against these plans.

What an utterly ridiculous thing to say. Just because you own a business, does not mean you do not work for a living.

Great to be out on the doorstep in Boughton speaking to local residents about their concerns and issues.

At Business Questions yesterday, I was pleased to pay tribute to Living Like Linda, a Northamptonshire charity whose parliamentary launch I had the pleasure of hosting earlier this week. Inspired by Linda Williamson, the charity helps people undergoing long-term chemotherapy enjoy days out and social experiences, giving them a chance to take their minds off treatment for a few hours. It was lovely to recognise Linda, her husband Andy, and everyone involved in the fantastic work they are doing.

Today at Transport Questions, I raised the Government’s decision to remove the A509 Isham Bypass from its major road schemes programme. I asked the Roads Minister to visit Isham to see firsthand the impact that traffic is having on the village, and he agreed to do so. While I welcome this commitment, it does not change the fact that residents have been waiting more than 40 years for a bypass, and the Government’s recent decision has been a real setback. I will be following up with the Minister’s office to arrange the visit and will continue pressing for a way forward.

Yesterday, I challenged the Government in Parliament over the continued use of asylum hotels in Crick and Flore. The previous Minister recognised these hotels were unsuitable. Residents were told they would only be temporary, yet the Government now talks about 2029. I asked the Minister to visit both villages and see for herself. She agreed to meet with me to discuss my concerns. I will continue pressing the Government for answers and for both hotels to close.

I'm pleased to report Anglian Water has confirmed the remaining two burst water mains were repaired overnight, and water pressure has now returned to normal. Anglian Water have advised that some residents may notice cloudy or discoloured water following the disruption. They have confirmed this is safe to drink and should clear after running the tap for a short while. They have also confirmed that they will be reviewing the interruptions to identify customers who may be entitled to compensation where supplies were disrupted for more than 12 hours. Any compensation due will be credited automatically to eligible accounts within 20 working days. If you believe you are entitled to compensation but have not received it after that period, please contact Anglian Water on 03457 145 145. While this is welcome news, this is far from the first time these villages have experienced significant disruption. I have demanded a meeting with Anglian Water’s Chief Executive as soon as possible to get clear answers on what action will be taken to improve the resilience of the network and prevent this happening again.

**Water Supply Update** I understand residents in East Farndon, Clipston and the surrounding villages are facing yet more problems with their water supply. I have been contacted by the local parish councils and have received an update from Anglian Water, which has confirmed that several burst water mains in the Sibbertoft area have caused water levels at the local reservoir to fall significantly. This has left some residents without water or experiencing very low pressure. Anglian Water has confirmed that engineers are working to repair the bursts, with tankers being brought in to pump water directly into the network. They are also looking at diverting water from other areas, although this may mean reduced pressure for some households currently unaffected. Bottled water is being delivered directly to affected households, starting in East Farndon, although no delivery times have yet been confirmed. I appreciate that this is becoming an all too familiar situation for residents, particularly after the disruption experienced earlier this year. I have continued raising these issues directly with Anglian Water and I am arranging a meeting with senior representatives again to discuss what needs to change in the longer term to make the local network more resilient. Residents should not have to keep experiencing these problems, and I want to see a proper plan to prevent this from happening. I will continue pressing Anglian Water for answers and will share further updates as I receive them.

A fantastic turnout at my Over 55s Advice & Information Fayre at Daventry Community Centre last Friday. It was a brilliant morning, with residents coming through the doors throughout the event and our stallholders kept incredibly busy. A huge thank you to all the charities, community groups and organisations who joined us, and to everyone who came along. It was great to see so many people finding out about the support and activities available locally. I'm already looking forward to the next one. 📸 FR Studio

I understand residents in Flore are concerned following reports of suspicious behaviour in the village earlier this week. I have been raising concerns with the Home Office about the continued use of the asylum hotels at Flore and Crick since November 2024, when I was assured that these would be temporary arrangements. Almost two years later, both hotels remain in use, and we still have no clear indication of when they will be stood down. I have written to the Home Office again, asking for a proper update on the future of both sites, and will continue to raise residents' concerns. My latest letter can be read below 👇

Last week, I hosted a Canal Forum in Braunston with local canal businesses and representatives from the Canal & Rive Trust, Affinity Water and Severn Trent Water to discuss the proposed Grand Union Canal Transfer Scheme. It was an informative discussion, with those attending generally supportive of the scheme in principle and recognising the benefits of investment in the canal, while raising questions about potential disruption and the financial impact on local businesses. Thank you to everyone who joined us and shared their views, and to The Boat House in Braunston for kindly hosting us. If you're interested in attending a future Canal Forum, please email me [email protected]

The Conservative Party Conference is a great opportunity to speak with a wide range of charities and organisations about issues affecting people across the Daventry constituency. Constituents contact me throughout the year about a variety of issues, so I was particularly pleased to visit the @mndassoc and @DementiaUK following requests to do so. I also spoke with @CR_UK and @MarieCuriePA about their important work. It was a valuable opportunity to ensure my constituents concerns are part of wider national conversations.

It was a pleasure to welcome residents from across the Daventry constituency to Parliament yesterday. We enjoyed a tour of the Palace of Westminster, followed by a Q&A and the chance to discuss my work as their MP. Thank you to everyone who joined us. It was lovely to meet you all! Following the fantastic interest in this visit, I'm hoping to arrange another coach trip in the near future.

Really disappointing news for the A509 Isham Bypass. The Government has confirmed that the bypass has been removed from its major roads programme, citing concerns about value for money and the supporting business case. While the door remains open for the scheme to be reconsidered if a stronger business case is put forward, this is a real blow for local residents who have been waiting for improvements. The traffic problems aren't going away, and residents deserve to know what measures will be taken in the meantime to address congestion and the pressures on local roads.

I am deeply disappointed that the Secretary of State has approved the Green Hill Solar Farm. I have consistently opposed this development alongside residents and communities across our area and have repeatedly raised concerns about its scale, location and impact. I will now be carefully reviewing the Secretary of State’s decision and the Examining Authority’s recommendation before commenting further. A full statement will follow.

I know how frustrating it is for residents in East Farndon, Clipston, Maidwell and neighbouring villages to once again be experiencing problems with their water supply. This is not the first time these communities have faced serious disruption this year, and I have continued to raise residents’ concerns directly with Anglian Water. Following the problems this weekend, senior representatives from Anglian Water were in East Farndon this afternoon meeting residents face-to-face, including senior operational management. Bottled water has also been delivered, with further supplies being made available today for those who need them. I have been receiving regular updates and have been in contact with Anglian Water’s Chief Executive. Once the immediate incident has been reviewed, I will be meeting senior representatives again to go through what has happened and, crucially, what needs to change to make the local network more resilient and prevent residents repeatedly finding themselves in this position. I will also be arranging a further visit to East Farndon with Anglian Water and will keep residents updated.
