At just two years old, Ethan was diagnosed with stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma. Over the next two years, he went on to receive nine rounds of chemotherapy, two bone marrow transplants, radiation, immunotherapy, and multiple surgeries.
Now in seventh grade, Ethan is celebrating two big milestones: "graduating" to Dana-Farber's survivorship clinic, where he will receive ongoing care and monitoring, and getting Bar Mitzvah'd.
When it came time to choose a Bar Mitzvah service project, Ethan knew exactly what cause he wanted to support: "Because of the impact they have had on my life and my family, fundraising for Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund was an easy decision," he shares.

This month, we recognize everyone affected by pancreatic cancer, lung cancer, stomach cancer, and carcinoid cancer. 💜🤍🖤

A family history of cancer led Sue to seek answers. After a Lynch syndrome diagnosis, specialized screening helped detect two cancers—colon and lung—both in early stages.
Now, Sue is turning her experience into action. “I want to do whatever I can to stop this. I don’t want other people to go through what I’ve gone through,” she says. Read more of Sue’s story on our blog: jimmyfund.gives/pnc7n3fy.
We’re incredibly grateful to our friends at @ArbellaIns Foundation for helping us strike out cancer for Dana-Farber patients. In 2026, Arbella donated $50 for every strikeout by a Boston pitcher totaling $66,300 to support @DanaFarber and the Jimmy Fund’s mission.
Thank you to our longstanding partner, Arbella Insurance, for their continued support and dedication. Every strikeout brings us one step closer to changing the future of cancer care and research.
A new era in cancer care begins. The Lavine Bekenstein Cancer Hospital at Dana-Farber will be the region’s only dedicated inpatient cancer hospital, designed with patients at its center.

Today marks the beginning of a new era in cancer care.
Alongside leaders from across the Commonwealth, the @CityOfBoston, @BIDMChealth, and the broader community, we broke ground on the Lavine Bekenstein Hospital at Dana-Farber. This 450,000-square-foot facility will include 300 inpatient beds across 10 floors and has been designed specifically around the needs of people with cancer and their families. Built to support the next generation of cancer treatment, the hospital will bring together world-class clinical care, groundbreaking research, and advanced technology on a single, integrated campus.
This hospital was made possible through a joint philanthropic commitment from Josh and Anita Bekenstein and the Jonathan and Jeannie Lavine family. This transformational gift—the largest single gift in our history—builds on both families’ decades-long dedication to our mission: delivering expert, compassionate patient care while accelerating discoveries that improve outcomes for people with cancer around the world.
Located along Brookline Avenue, the hospital will become the centerpiece of a closely coordinated campus linking Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and @HMFPBoston. The facility has been designed to accommodate rapid advances in oncology, providing flexible clinical space capable of adapting to future innovations in cancer treatment and research.

“I was diagnosed at stage IV, without the care from my team at Dana-Farber I wouldn’t be here. So for me it’s that simple. I run to give back to the place that gave me a second chance at life so that others can do the same.” - Abbey, a runner for Dana-Farber's Boston Half team
We can’t wait to cheer on Abbey and our entire team on November 8! 💙
In 2021, Margo’s father, Kenneth, received a stage IV prostate cancer diagnosis and began treatment at @DanaFarber. After learning he carried a BRCA2 mutation, Margo sought testing soon afterward and received a positive result two weeks before her 40th birthday.
Discovering she carried a BRCA2 mutation, Margo Lindauer was able to make a deeply personal decision about her health and future.
“There’s something so different and so empowering about making a decision affirmatively versus being told that you have a protocol that you need to follow, to save your life,” says Margo.
With the help of her care team at Dana-Farber, Margo chose to undergo a risk-reducing double mastectomy with reconstruction. At the time, had recently finished breastfeeding her youngest daughter and felt ready to make the decision on her own terms.

"I run because, after cancer, I needed to find myself again. For a long time, my body was something I associated with sickness, treatment, fear, and uncertainty. We are so much more than what has happened to us. It may give us challenges we never asked for—but it does not get to decide who we become."- Rachel, a runner for Dana-Farber's team this fall in the Boston Half
When 3-year-old Stella was diagnosed with optic nerve gliomas, her family felt a mix of relief, worry, gratitude, and exhaustion. At Dana-Farber, they also found something steady at Dana-Farber: hope.
“Even in the middle of treatment, Stella gets to be a child, laughing in hallways, playing ‘doctor,’ and finding joy in small, everyday moments,” says Stella’s mom, Elizabeth.
Support for Dana-Farber through the Jimmy Fund gives families like Stella’s hope.
