The ongoing humanitarian crises in Palestine, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Sudan remind us of the urgent need for compassion, accountability, and a collective commitment to ending human suffering.
Our commitment to the Beloved Community calls us to recognize the humanity in one another and to work toward a world where every person can live with dignity, freedom, and peace.

“We have a group of people who have idolized America.” — Justin E. Giboney
Justin E. Giboney joined our CEO, Dr. Bernice A. King, and "The Sins of Our Fathers" producer Matthew Pridgen for an essential conversation on race, faith, and their enduring impact on our nation today.
While every culture carries its own myths, confronting the idolatry surrounding our history is vital to our collective healing. True progress requires that we meet that history with both unwavering truth and generous grace.

The King Center extends its warmest congratulations to Keisha Lance Bottoms on her historic election as Governor of Georgia. Today, she becomes the first woman and the first Black individual to serve as chief executive of our state, as well as the first Black woman governor in the history of the United States.
In reflecting upon this milestone of leadership and public trust, we recall the timeless words of our founder, Mrs. Coretta Scott King: "Women, if the soul of the nation is to be saved, I believe that you must become its soul."
We offer our sincere prayers for wisdom, strength, and grace as she prepares to lead Georgia forward.

A right secured through generations of courage and sacrifice must never be taken for granted.
The 1965 Selma voting rights marches stand as a testament to the determination of those who fought for equal access to the ballot, including Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and our founder, Coretta Scott King.
Today is Election Day. We encourage all eligible voters to exercise their right to vote and remain active participants in our democracy.

"The vote is the most powerful instrument devised by man for breaking down injustice." Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. taught us that justice requires action, and today that action takes place at the ballot box.
Remember that if you are in line before the polls officially close, you have the legal right to cast your ballot. Stay in line. Do not let delays or obstacles silence your voice.
If you encounter any barriers or have questions while voting, reach out to the nonpartisan Election Protection hotline at 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683).

“There were two sets of textbooks in America, one for the South and one for the rest of the country.” – Matthew Pridgen
Following the screening of Sins of Our Fathers at The King Center, producer Matthew Pridgen reflected on how the Lost Cause narrative shaped generations of American education. Textbook publishers altered historical accounts of slavery to maintain sales in the South, contributing to a distorted understanding of our nation's history.
Understanding our past is essential to building a more just future. True reconciliation begins with the willingness to confront history in its entirety and acknowledge the full truth.

“The Gospel in its essence ministers to the whole man.” – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
For Dr. King, faith required more than words. It called for action to confront injustice, address human needs, and build the Beloved Community.

Facing criticism and adversity requires steady practice and courage. Principles are truly tested when opposition arises, whether through an online comment or a direct disagreement over an important stance. Developing the ability to remain calm and steadfast in such moments is an essential skill that must be nurtured over time.
In this episode of the Rethink Podcast, host Christian Scott sits down with Mónica Ramírez, founder of Justice for Migrant Women, to examine what it takes to practice conviction daily.

Last week, The King Center team had the privilege of welcoming leaders from the Atlanta Dream, the Golden State Valkyries, and the WNBA to our campus. During their visit, we guided our guests on a tour of our historic grounds and shared the meaningful work taking place across our organization. It was an enriching experience, and we are grateful for our guests’ time and shared commitment to creating positive social impact.

The King Center mourns the loss of labor rights leader and activist, Dolores Huerta. Dolores co-founded the United Farm Workers, coined the anthem of hope “¡Sí, se puede!”, and spent more than seven decades organizing at the intersections of labor, civil rights, gender equality, and immigrant justice. She showed the world that field workers, women, and marginalized communities hold the collective power to demand dignity and win.
Dolores Huerta and our founder, Coretta Scott King, shared an alliance rooted in the intersection of labor rights, racial equality, and women’s leadership. They organized together in Salinas, California, during the 1970 farmworker strikes, and stood shoulder to shoulder in Washington defending antipoverty initiatives.
We extend our deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers to her family, loved ones, and the generations of organizers whose paths were paved by her sacrifice.

We are less than a week away from the midterm elections, and in many communities, early voting has already begun.
Generations before us marched, organized, and sacrificed so that every citizen would have an equal say at the ballot box. When efforts to suppress the ballot increase, it only underscores how much power we hold when we show up together.
Honor the legacy. Exercise your right. Make your plan to vote today.
