The Data Center Local Frictions Report – December 2025 provides comprehensive intelligence on community and regulatory resistance facing data center development across the United States. This monthly analysis examines news articles to identify locality specific conflicts, revealing that nearly half of all data center coverage involves local opposition. The report breaks down resistance by conflict type and identifies geographic hotspots where development faces the strongest headwinds. This is essential reading for infrastructure planners, data center developers, infrastructure investors, utility planners, and policy makers navigating the complex landscape of AI-driven data center growth and its local impacts. theinfrastructureconstellati…

Palantir CEO Alex Karp increased his dead hang to over 5 minutes: Karp says there are only three exercises that are accurate proxy indicators for health: — Dead Hangs — Farmers Walk — VO2 Via @tbpn
Palantir CEO Alex Karp’s secret to staying physically fit enough to run Palantir: “Copy the Norwegians.” “Run like a snail—run at the pace you walk at, get a band, stay in Zone 1.” “Do that as much as possible and over a long period of time, you will transform your health.”

Guess who didn’t order the duck on launch becuase they were trying to be a “responsible adult” and just ordered one to arrive in 4-6 months.

Jensen closed his GTC Berlin 2026 keynote with this Hermes Agent demo as the finale. He introduced it by saying the way to build an agent is to ask an agent to build it for you, so he installed and set up a customized Hermes in one prompt. Then he used Hermes, running on @nvidia RTX Spark, to create a simulated training environment for the @huggingface Microduck. Hermes planned an obstacle course with Nemotron and had GPT-6 Astra build it using FreeCAD, Omniverse libraries, Blender, Newton, and Isaac Lab. Hermes trained thousands of simulated ducks on that course until the validated policy was ready to run on the real robot in the physical world. At Nous, we believe open source is a practical tool as much as a philosophical ideal. It gives users the ability to build powerful, complex workflows chaining numerous local+cloud models, devices, and tools themselves instead of waiting for a company to enable them.

JUST IN: Chinese bride surprises her groom with a $12,000 Nvidia RTX 5090 GPU at their wedding, bringing him to tears.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The video and photos are from a 2025 Chinese wedding (not a recent "JUST IN" event). The ASUS ROG Astral RTX 5090 was reported as ~$3000 at the time per launch pricing and contemporary coverage, not $12000. tomshardware.com/pc-components/… videocardz.com/newz/asus-reve… en.gamegpu.com/news/zhelezo/v…

GPT Astra and Claude Opus have been racing to create the best StarCraft strategy for over 30 hours. The best human written S tier strategies, are still holding on against Astra... but just barely

Car racing is cognitive enhancement: > 12 hrs on a driving video game, and 60-85 yr olds were cognitively overtaking 20 yr olds > race car drivers do in one brain region what a novice does in 15 > six months later, the seniors kept the gains with zero practice
What Tobi is about to do today is one of the most insane things I’ve seen in athletic performance. He will be racing for 2.5 hours straight. Before immersing myself in this sport for the past few days, I would have thought “oh that’s cool, he’ll be driving a fast car around a track.” That is not what this is. And why I have so much respect for him. Tobi will be driving a car over 180 mph, experiencing up to 4.2 g of force. That will throw his body forward with 715 lbs of force and his head by 67 lbs. Braking action requires up to 200 lbs of leg force. The cockpit will average 104-122°F (40 to 50°C). His multi-layer suit barely allows for evaporation. This will cause his core body temperature to reach 102°F. I achieved this same body temp after 200°F of dry sauna for 34 min. It’s overwhelming. His heart rate will beat between 140-170 bpm. He will sweat up to 170 fl oz (5 kg), losing 11 lbs of body weight. Some classes run driver cooling systems. His LMP2 doesn't. Under these conditions, he will need to maintain perfect concentration for the entire 2.5 hours. He’s fighting for tenths of a second on every turn and every stretch. One small slip up and trouble awaits. Today it’s even more intense… it’s raining. The track is wet, scrambling everything. He has to maintain spatial memory of every other car on the track, the complicated rules to avoid penalty, and constantly strategize overtaking other drivers, communicate with his team on the radio, watch for debris, be aware of slightest nuances of his car, and anticipate other drivers. He did a practice run on Thursday and then a qualifying race yesterday, when he emerged from the car, he was a different human. Unrecognizable from the person who entered the car. Beaming with something like an omnipresence of reality. We celebrate those who are especially good at kicking balls, shooting balls into baskets, and running with balls. What Tobi will do today is alien to those. I struggle to think of a sport equally as demanding. Tobi and I have a lot in common. We’ve both built companies. We both spend a lot of time at the keyboard trying to organize the world in ways that we find beautiful. We both love data, method, and analysis. We both have a love for continuous improvement and will endure any pain required to achieve that next goal. What I’ve not experienced is the unmatched flow state Tobi tells me he drops into when under these racing conditions. I deeply understand what it means to achieve a 102°F core body temperature after 34 min in a 200°F dry sauna. I also know what 3 g’s feels like from being a pilot. These are extremely intense psychological states. I know what it means to apply 200 lbs of pressure with my legs. What I’ve never experienced is all these things, at the same time, for 2.5 hours straight, while maintaining perfect focus. He is new to car racing. Late by racing standards. DHH got him into it a few years ago. During this first year of racing, he endured to overcome the extreme motion sickness that accompanies the physical and mental violence of the sport. The race starts at noon eastern. Tobi will be driving for the first 2.5 hours and then @dhh will drop in, followed by Mathias Beche. The race will conclude at 10 pm. I’ll be in the pit watching as all the data streams in from his car and body and imagining what it’s like to be in that car.

Here is what is going on here: -shipping containers full of B300’s = modular data center , many different sizes and specs -we can drop ship these anywhere in the world on a moments notice -you can have an emergency, a conflict, a low latency use case, a need for control and sovereignty or to run air-gapped……you can imagine all the scenarios -So Armada provides the physical infrastructure to host the compute, Nvidia provides the compute (and in this case the Nemotron base model) and Palantir provides the ability to deploy, manage, (locally fine tune models) and orchestrate intelligence in literally any environment in the world. -it’s really really f’ing cool -you have 3 🐐 and the picture of Sovereign AI
The Sovereign AI revolution is here, and it runs on the Palantir Sovereign AI OS.

Your agent got the right answer. How much work did it take to get there? We worked with @NousResearch/@Teknium on a hands-on walkthrough of NVIDIA NeMo Relay to collect traces for Hermes Agent. Run two example scenarios, follow the agent’s calls and retries, and see the full trace in Arize Phoenix. The blog also looks at how Nous used traces and task results to evaluate fixes across repeated runs. TechBlog: nvda.ws/47tKxjQ 📽️ by our own @Picomoorhead:
