VA’s health record systems have evolved over time to better support Veteran care.
The Federal Electronic Health Record is the next step, bringing health information into one system to help improve care coordination in VA facilities.
Hear more from VA leaders about what this transformation means for Veterans.
Thank you Joe Manning, from the Iowa City American Legion Post 17, who donated these Moose Plushies from the Iowa City Loyal Order of the Moose to our VA Police. These soft toys will be shared with those dealing with an emotion situation and in need of comfort.

"I'm fine."
For many Veterans, those two words can hide a lot of pain.
On this World Mental Health Day, let's challenge the stigma that prevents too many Veterans from talking about their mental health. Every conversation, every check-in, and every act of support can make a difference.
If you're struggling, know this: asking for help is not giving up. It's taking the next step forward.
📞 Reach out to someone you trust today. And if you're checking on a Veteran, don't just ask once. Stay connected. Listen. Support. Care. Because no Veteran should face their battles alone.

According to FeedingAmerica.org, one in nine working age Veterans experiences food insecurity. Experts believe this may stem from low income, challenges finding employment, and the long term impact of military service.
We are so thankful to our partners for helping us bring the Honor Harvest pilot program to the Iowa City VA Health Care System.

During this weeklong celebration, we take the time to celebrate the dedicated professionals who are the key ingredient in delivering nutrition excellence to patients and residents! Healthcare foodservice workers are integral to the seamless operation of healthcare facilities on a daily basis. Their multifaceted roles include catering meetings, facilitating take-out orders for both staff and visitors, and, most importantly, crafting nutritious and tailored meals for patients from diverse backgrounds and with varying health requirements.
Beyond the visible aspects of their work, healthcare foodservice workers excel behind the scenes, and we are so grateful for them!!

It’s Telehealth Awareness Week!
September 20–26, VA joins the American Telemedicine Association in celebrating the power of telehealth to connect Veterans with high‑quality care—no matter where they live.
For over 20 years, VA has built one of the nation’s largest telehealth programs. From video visits to remote patient monitoring, Veterans can access trusted VA providers across more than 50 clinical specialties. Telehealth helps reduce barriers like long travel times, transportation challenges, and limited access to specialty care.
