When she first arrived at St. Joseph's Catholic High School, Jada Havens wasn't all that interested in school. She lacked initiative and didn't really apply herself.
But thanks to some caring, compassionate staff members at the school who took an interest in her and made her feel like she belonged there, Jada began to thrive.
Creating environments where every student feels like they belong to their school family is not only an essential part of our school board's mission, but is also a fundamental gospel value.
Belonging is our Catholic school board's theme for 2026-27 and we have created a series of videos demonstrating how our staff strives to cultivate a sense of belonging in their schools. This video is the third in that series.
As our students and families head out to celebrate, we encourage everyone to enjoy the day safely. Remember to watch for little ones while driving, use reflective gear or flashlights when trick-or-treating, and travel in groups. We wish our school communities a fun, safe, and memorable Halloween.
WE'RE HIRING! Do you know someone who would be a great part of our team? We're hiring for the following position: Non-Union- Tutor Supporting Indigenous Students. Visit our website wecdsb.on.ca/about/employmen…
Beyond Barriers is a TV series written, hosted and filmed by youth with disabilities from Windsor-Essex. Through conversations with community guests and youth roundtable discussions, they challenge myths about disability, promote inclusion and accessibility, and highlight the talents, humour, interests and goals of people with disabilities — encouraging us all to see the person, not just the disability. We'll be hosting a watch party here at the Catholic Education Centre on Nov. 9 at 6 pm. Drop by and check it out!
