Election night 2018: I was announced the winner, went home, and went to sleep. In the middle of the night, some votes were counted wrong, the AP rescinded the call, and I lost the lead. By morning I had won again. We ended up winning by 926 votes.
I didn’t know any of it happened. I was asleep.

The most demanding real estate project in history: building a Moon Base.
@POTUS wants to know the people, the hardware, and how we’re tracking against the schedule. Artemis III is an incredibly demanding test mission, and a critical step toward an enduring American presence on the Moon.
Talked to Texas Monthly about AI. P(doom) is not zero. Near-term risk is bad actors using existing tools on critical systems. We can still build with it (homes, infrastructure, space) if we put basic checks in place.

Here's what the AI arms race in cybersecurity looks like in real life.
Researchers at Wiz used AI to discover two serious flaws in PHP, a programming language that helps websites work behind the scenes. On vulnerable servers, hackers could break in without a password.
Palo Alto Networks identified more than 22 million internet-exposed PHP systems that could be vulnerable. That doesn't mean 22 million websites have been hacked.
Here's why this matters: AI is finding hidden weaknesses faster than ever. Defenders can use it, but so can attackers.
If you run a website, ask your IT team or hosting provider: Are we using PHP? Is it patched? What's protecting us until it is?
The folks at Palo Alto Networks, where I sit in an advisory board, have a helpful guide on what to do next:
